Purchased TRD Off Road with Technology package, Premium Package, LED package, and AW floor mats. MSRP of $45,000, they gave me the truck for $40k flat plus gave me $6k more than KBB for my Chevy Colorado. I drove off the lot for $18k.

    Edit: It’s a DCSB 4x4

I just noticed, those TRD off-road and TRD sport with the LED package... it is the same price as the TRD pro... why not just get the pro??

^^THIS^^ Is why I now have a PRO. Originally wanted a Off Road w/ leather LED's etc., for just about the same money you could get a Pro. + my wife was in love with the scoop.

True if you’re paying MSRP for either. I paid $41k for my fully loaded OR with options (msrp was just over $45k). Pretty sure 2020 TRD Pro’s are not going for more than 3-4% off MSRP if you’re lucky at this point in the year.

Yep. My dealership only had a few on the lot and it would not have been close to the same discount.

Stopped by a dealership in my area to get some parts and checked out the 2020’s. Just of curiosity I asked the salesman what he’d sell it to me for right then and there, and he came back with $30,200 (MSRP $37k) before fees. That’s for a 2020 O/R with led headlights, manual, but no tech package or whatever the new thing is. Super intrigued so upgrade from my 2017 at that price considering I paid $36,000 for it at a different dealer. Decisions decisions..

While there isn't as big of a gap at MSRP as in previous years between a loaded OR/Sport and a Pro, there is still a couple thousand difference. And as others have said, you are lucky to be able to get a Pro at MSRP much less below it, whereas it is pretty easy to get a couple thousand or more off of a OR or Sport. That puts the difference at now like $4-5k+.

I think you are right though, if you can finagle a discount on a Pro or for some reason can't get much of one on the OR or Sport, then it is probably worth it to just step up to the Pro!

It’s the volume dealer around here so they can take that extra “loss” on selling.

Pro is limited to certain colors. Pro discounts are rare.

I tried negotiating one at the highest selling dealer in America last year and couldn't even get that much off in October. I think I got 5,500 to 6k off. Ended up not buying at all anymore.

A $6,800 discount off MSRP on a 2020 is almost to good to be true. What’s the catch?

Nothing, they’re a high volume dealer. My best friend bought a tundra through them last year, $11,000 of MSRP.

It's not about getting the highest trim level, it's about getting the truck you actually want that fits your needs. I had absolutely no interest in getting a Pro because you can get big discounts on the Off-Road and then build it up the way you want....or keep it stock. Either way, the bottom line is that not everyone is dying to have a TRD Pro. If you want one, great, but don't assume that everyone wants one just because it's the top trim. That's very superficial thinking.

Killer deal, but I bet they’re planning on you trading and then hosing you on the trade-in. That discount is too high even for a high volume dealer. Get it in writing.
