Why is it there aren't tons of posts about this? Is it just me? No need to answer those judgmental voices in my head.
I posted yesterday about raising the engine a pinch to relieve pressure on the bolts. The answer was yes. I still get a little weirded out jacking up at points other than the typical spots, so it's very likely I did not go high enough. Question is does does a pinch mean a pinch or does it really mean two pinches? Seriously, is there a way to tell when enough is enough? Also, I am still learning what tools do what or are better for certain jobs plus ones that may aid in my needing more leverage than those of the male persuasion. That said, while I can get the head of the ratcheting wrench on the bolt, when I go to give it my all, it slips off. It is supposed to lock, but doesn't. I made sure I had what was used in the vid. So question is, any tricks to keeping the wrench head seated? Or?

    4 run, 2 don't
Soak with PB Blaster and let sit for a bit?

Using 6 point socket? Anything more than 6 point and you've got minimal contact surface with said bolt.

Unsure the location that you're working in but maybe an impact or breaker bar?

might need a breaker bar or something to put on the end of the wrench for extra leverage

A breaker bar will be your friend.
Since you're pulling from much further away you have to make sure you keep pressure on the head to keep it seated on the nut. Start with one hand holding the head of the wrench with pressure on the nut, and begin to loosen. Once you get some pressure you can go two hands while loosening, just try to keep the angle and pressure constant.

PB Blaster really helps if there's any corrosion. I would try a few different levels of jacking up the engine, put a piece of wood between the jack and engine block if it makes you feel better.

I tried a pipe, but the wrench keeps slipping off the bolt.

I am not sure how to get a breaker bar to fit. The bracket on top of the mount interferes with anything longer & the mount bracket makes it so you can't fit a ratchet. I tried universal joint, but it keeps angling in towards the mount bracket & wedges there. This is why wrenches are supposed to be best, but they keep slipping off.
I'll try jacking it up a little more....

Lots of PB. Wire brushed, then more PB. 6 point when attempting to make a ratchet work. I tried to take a pic of the location, but apparently my tablet doesn't have a flash. It's a pretty rough spot between the frame & engine. Access is through the wheel well & directly behind the shock. Also angled inward & down making the bolts mostly horizontal. Clear as mud I know.

Lock two box/open wrenches for 2x torque. I'll see if I can find a pic of locked box/open for better understanding.
Also it's ok to hit the wrench with a hammer. @Kristi with a K

You can raise the engine till you start putting pressure on the firewall .

Kinda hard to do alone with out a bunch of crawling under and getting out.

It has been so long I can`t recall just what could get broken ifyou lift to high

Not being smart you are going the correct way I have been known to get confused laying under the truck Then I still need to mark my left and right feet

So I finally got one out :woot::woot:
Couple of things made the dif. First of all, I decided to try going through the top of the engine. Second, so NOT using the wrench on the left! The one that's supposed to have a gazillion different positions, make you dinner, take out the trash.... After ???? long, it occurred to me that maybe, just maybe, I wasn't screwing up, incompetent, etc. & I tried the one on the right. Got it on the nut, worked a pipe over it, promised to return the magazine I absconded with from the dr's office, gave it all I had, bucket almost kicked out from under me, but one more push & there was that beautiful sound....
I am not sure what I'll do for the other side. The bolts aren't as rusted, so maybe going in from the wheel well will work. More stuff to maneuver around either way.
So you can see the bolt head is all chewed up. I couldn't get any 14 anything on it after a few last hail mary's from the top o' the engine with that black wrench. Luckily I only tried it once on the nut. & I spent SO much time trying all different setups with ratchets & extensions & going from under the truck....

So, note to self, from now on if there is constant wrench slippage, it may not be all my fault.

Thank you all & my apologies for not trying the other wrench sooner. Lots of good advice though that'll come in handy....

What are you trying to do, ad in why are you messing with the motor mount bolts? Hitting bolts with a mapp gas torch helps loosen things up as well.

I am making progress, or rather, was. 2:00, last bolt broken loose. So I make sure the jack is all good, watch the rest of the vid, that kind'a thing. Then I go to take the rest of the bolts all the way out. Two of the 14's, no prob & the 2 17's. 1st one gave me a little lip, then gave it up. The last one? Nope! Sabotage! It's just going round & round & really tough to turn. Funny thing is as I am cranking on it ("why?" you ask, "if it is not loosening?" One of it my insane at times qualities is being hopelessly hopeful.... So cranking, & I mean cranking, on it & the nut is wee (smaller than little) bit by wee bit coming up off the mount but the nut is making no progress. I am wondering if I am actually unscrewing the the mount stud. I was just gonna post for help on this. There is no socket between a 16 & a 17 to try on the nut & the space limits my options for something to grip it. Is there a magical toll that is small enough, preferably flexes that may be able to get a better hold on that nut? Should I just get a sawsall & hope it fits in there? Unfortunately it's on the driver's side so space is a little (not wee) bit more cramped than the other....

& I'd love to run off to a sunny, warm place, but for that I would need my truck....

    Replacing the mounts.
I dunno about a torch where these are? I mean there's electrical & tubing right there. & with my last update, there's just that one left & I'm lifting tubing out of the way so I can get that pic.

    One of these:
    https://www.walmart.com/ip/Torch-Ki...haCbgV8uN3kmJjo_ku1lUEL9wnwb3uOxoCcKwQAvD_BwE

Heat up the bolt a few times and it will loosen up. Heat it until it starts to turn reddish around the edges of the nut. Of course watch out for anything you can catch on fire.
