I need to replace original shocks. Anyone have a suggestion on shocks that may increase towing capacity? Thank you...

Unfortunately the only way to increase load capacity is to buy new shocks attached to a new truck.

New shocks are not the problem. It is the engine that is limiting you. You need the V6 to pull more.

Really? I'm looking for 5% +/- 3675# to pull my trailer from one side of a job site to the other! I have a one ton diesel... but it has gotten too costly to drive over the road. Hence 4 cylinder. MILAGE! 27.5 Highway. I've tweeked many 22RE and I'm sure I can get 175# more towing out of this engine.
I do not want to change leafsprings even though that would do it, it would also change ride dynamics. Just looking for shock recommendations. Thank you.

Very likely the 4 cylinder shocks are the same as the 6 cylinder 6400# shocks. They don't make a difference to load.

Adding a leaf or air ride just shifts weight forward, neither can add to weight capacity.

If you tow over and DOT catches you, especially commercial it can be a bad thing.

You can weld in a second set of shocks if you want. It will still not increase your towing capacity. Springs won't either. You are limited by the rating Toyota has put on the vehicle.

And welcome to the forum :hattip:

Dude shocks have nothing to do with increasing towing payload. Nothing.
