[2017 trd sport]. 22000 miles, tow package $27,800.. it’s missing the factory bed cover which is a must for me and they could install it for $2200... bringing the price up tp around 30k

[2017 limited] 27000 miles and already has the bed cover for $30,500..

im torn I like knowing I have the tow package incase I’m hauling a boat or what not but I’ve never in the past had to haul a big boat so does that really matter.. I do a lot of pond fishing which you can find yourself in muddy pastures or pond dams but is that anything a limited couldn’t handle? I’m mainly hauling kids around to sports or fishing and the other times I’m on the pavement. Talk to me fellas, spread your wisdom

The Sport and Limited have the same 4 wheel drive system so they will be equal muddy pastures, just choose some decent tires.

The limited and the sport have essentially the same drivetrain, if 4WD. The shocks are stiffer on the Sport. Everything else is interior features, and appearance items. Buy the one you like the look of, with the features you need. The guts of the two trucks is mostly identical.

Could you find a TRD off road with the premium upgrades (leather like limited but different colour, sound system) anywhere cheaper? They come stock with the tow package. 2200 is crazy steep for a tonneau cover, you can get a hard shell/canopy for the same price or cheaper used and/or get a tonneau cover for less than $600.

I’d be walking out if they tried to charge me over 2k for a bed cover.

I like the fact of it being made specially for the Tacoma. It’s sturdy, fits flush with bed and doesn’t bow up in the middle.. why are they telling me it’s 2200.. knowing it could cost them the sell.. is it not that much?

$2200 for a factory tri fold bed cover installed. RUN Do Not Walk Away From That Dealer. They go for $350-600 used with hardware if you look around

Beds are pretty much the same size with all trucks. I have the LEER hardcover. I love this cover. It has security tabs, not a line that u pull which can easily be tampered with. The Toyota ones will warp at ends and not flush. I had to cxl my order when I saw a few here.
There are DOZENS to fit every budget.
As for the truck , drive them both. It was owned by different owners so check for odd noises, tracking, shifting, etc. Play with all the controls. They are identical as noted, just cosmetic differences.
Negotiate on extended warranty which is always good to have. Just in case.

Sometimes, used car people have no frickin clue or over value factory items.
Factory tonneau from my dealership was 600.
There's no bowing of aftermarket hard covers because there's locking tabs that lock down each panel.

Assuming this is not a Toyota dealer but a used car dealer. Go to a real Toyota dealer ask questions, get brochure see what they've got on the lot. Don't show your cards, get up walk away if the deal isn't right. You're going to pay for it for your years, don't make a decision in minutes.

Get the limited, so a little more you get a lot more features. Both have tow packages though, they have the same specs across the board. 4x4 isn’t standard though so make sure you understand what drivetrains you’re getting. Limited and sport are almost the same truck. Trd off road and pro are almost the same as well.
As for trails, you’ll be ok. Tires have more to do with that. The limited and sport both have all seasons so I’d upgrade those to some aggressive all terrains and you’ll be good to go.

Too many trucks and mods to list.. check builds
2200 is because Toyota makes you buy the bedcover in pieces. They won’t sell the whole thing

At least it was in 2017. I haven’t had to do one since then. Most people prefer the aftermarkets (oem isn’t that great)

A picture won't do any good. You have to like it.
Every aftermarket tonneau cover is that. Secure and won't bow. All tri fold covers fold back and if need to completely remove, less than a minute.
But, more importantly, take a good long test drive man. Turn on your deaf ear whatever salesman is blabbering. He's on commission .
Look under truck for oil leaks and use a flashlight for engine bay for leaks. You are nearing your warranty period.

Pull this up, it will give you an idea how it’s been driven, hard miles driving in city, highway miles, leadfoot ect. Higher the Mpg the better

My 2017 Sport came with the factory bed cover and I hated it. It leaked every where. Sold it and put on a TruxPro cover and completely happy.
