Just got home and loaded 2.0 beta 87 octane on my stock 2019 auto sport 04b31. I jumped on the highway and put in about 20 miles before I ran out of time. Highway cruising is definitely improved over stock. Going up significant grades it still shifts to 5th but it was an appropriate shift and it never went into 4th where it would before. I did notice that the trans feels like it slips a bit if you get heavy with the gas. As the RPM hits 3600 it quickly slips up to about 3900 before it catches again. This was very limited testing, but it was repeatable across at least 2nd and 3rd and what I think was 4th gear. I figured I would put it out there for something to talk about besides when the final 2.0 version comes out.

I’m curious to know what sort of methods were used in tuning for the towing map.

The transmission is not slipping. The feeling you are getting is the torque converter locking and unlocking before it decides to go to a lower gear. Matt even made a comment a few pages back about how strong these trannys are while testing his TT system.

It's definitely the converter but I understood that the converter slips to avoid a shift in situations like going up a grade on the highway. The "slip" I'm seeing is from a dead stop with more that 2/3 throttle. As the RPM reaches 3600 it spikes to about 3900 with a noticeable slip feel on the butt Dyno. I'll drive it some more today. Is it a matter of transmission learning since I just flashed? I thought I heard that the transmission learning was disabled or something but these threads have so much garbage spread over 1000 pages.

You need to drive a lot more miles before the tune settles in

You’ve only got 20 miles in. It takes a few hundred for thing to settle in. Not downshifting to fourth is known

I drove a little bit more this morning. The slip I was talking about was much less pronounced. When I mentioned that the transmission did not go into 4th gear on the highway, I meant that as a good thing. That is one of the main reasons I bought the tuner. Initial impressions are very positive. Today I took the truck to a 30 mile an hour back road that is very windy and up and down hills. Normally I have to hit the ECT button or my truck will hunt for gears so bad that I nearly come to a stop. The truck did just fine with the new tune.

Does the "Accelerator Angle" mean that I can adjust the tip in based on speed? I don't like the jerkiness from a stop that the aggressive tunes had, but believe that an aggressive tip in above 20 mph could make the drive better. i.e., heavy traffic interstate driving, where you are constantly on and off the throttle, a more aggressive tip in could hit the torque converter harder and not let it slip or shudder
