That's a horrible idea. What time?
Really? I'm near Winchester and can only find one. On the way to Home Depot, if I take the long way. I'll have to head that way and find some of that.

Question...who works in Reston and lives about 30min away commute wise. Trying to get an idea of some nice areas that have some land and decent schools.

My wife works next to Plaza America in Reston. It takes her 30 minutes to get out of her office parking lot and across the toll road.

It's a work in progress. See my build thread.
I'll be out that direction on March 7th, if they are open, and you need me to pick up something I could assist. I am going to Clayton DE, so I'll be within 30 miles.

Fairfax and Loudoun both have really good school systems. Prince William is also good but not as good as the first two mentioned. Not sure where you're going to find real "land" within 30 minutes of Reston though. Unless you want a data center...

How much land are you looking for? Your best bet for a couple of acres is probably the Clifton (but $$$$), Sudley Springs, Aldie, or Haymarket areas but with traffic those commutes could be disastrous.

Leesburg area was pretty nice, but if you get out of Loudon County you'll get more bang for your buck, and lower taxes. We're in the Winchester area and I work in Sterling. 45 minutes, easy commute across 7.

I'm in Manassas-ish and they're getting ready to build too many houses connected to my neighborhood. Supposed to be one acre lots. I can tell you from experience that looking for land up here is a pain. We finally just gave up and settled for an acre (which sounds shitty to say).

    Go here...https://www.virginiadot.org/travel/county_maps.asp

Select the county you are interested in and print map. The dotted roads are gravel, the light dotted roads are sometimes poorly maintained. Each county has history books alto trying to find info on old sites can be difficult. Loudoun county is well documented and it can sill be difficult finding info on abandoned buildings. Literacy was not widespread so journals are not very available. Many large plantations had schools for their and neighboring children and the Quakers ran schools for all children. I have also had trouble trying to find info by talking to locals. Present residents are not very interested in history and those that are are dying off.
