Yeah they are. I just break the bead with spoons as well. There is definitely a bit of a technique.

Same. I considered buying one before I ordered the BBK for my Sporty, but there aren't many places around me to get much use out of it.

So I took the Ninja out last night and ran it around the neighborhood - zero leaks. :notsure:
I even got it up to operating temperature and rode it the same way I did on Sunday, to try and replicate the same conditions. Everything stayed bone-dry down there.

I think you were right about the residual goo/grease/oil getting warm and dripping onto the exhaust, plus any chain lube that might have flung off the chain. Either way, I'm happy I don't have to replace any seals down there. :)

Same here, I can't wait!

I have an appointment at a local cycle shop on Saturday morning. They are going to give my bike a good look to see if it needs anything for the season. It has a valid PA inspection but I still want them to go over it with a fine-tooth comb to make sure all is safe and well.

I think they're just GSXR 750 or 1000 forks. Nothing special like ohlins. You sure you dont want the motor @GHOST SHIP ?

Just saying, those forks would be better for the Yamaha than the stock forks I have from 1979.

I'm just fucking with you David. Build that thing! Maybe it'll inspire me to finish my build too. I don't really have a leg to stand on for a part out if I have my own stale project in the garage that's become my jacket/helmet rack.

Not actively working on it but it stares at me from a dark, dusty corner of my shop. I have a 79 Yamaha XS750. It used to be my father's and the bike I learned to ride on. No pics on hand, but I cut off the tail section, welded in a seat hoop, upgraded to 14" piggyback shocks in the rear, new clip on's with new hand controls, built my own minimalist dash for it with tiny LED indicator lights, ditched the speedo, kept the tach, upgraded to a modern blade style fuse block, new headlight and led turn signals and taillight, rebuilt both wheels (bearings/seals and paint) and forks/ neck bearings/races, rebuilt front and rear brake calipers/masters

    Still need to:
    finish wiring
    rebuild and sync the carbs
get new front brake master (the fancy one I bought has a smaller bore that doesn't provide enough pressure for the front dual discs)
might as well get new brake lines
build seatpan/tail section which will mimmick the tank profile and house the battery/electronics
    make my own seat
paint (large metal flake highland green with gold pinstripes and tuning fork logo)
    ride...

Nice, the bike has a great history I'm inspired for you. Thanks for the details sounds like you're halfway there.
