Sell your truck and buy a Prius.
Shitty gas milage is apart of this sport.

That’s not true anymore. Problem is mostly bad driving habits imo.

Lift it, regear, install a 1000 lbs of armor, big tires and load up with camping gear and wheel it. You will not get good mileage. I get between 8 to 11 with this setup and a few more MPGs when rolling unloaded. I don't sweat how many MPGs anymore.

Until there's a hybrid, it still is. Prius is pulling 50+ MPG actuals. The Colorado V6 is the best efficiency NA gasser (similar to the tacoma) and that gets about the same as the Tacoma (Fuelly). There's the ridgeline, the turbo in the ranger helps, too. The ranger is getting about 20.5 mpg overall (again, real world numbers on Fuelly). In 2001, the 4.0L ranger got 16mpg. In the past 20 years we eeked out 4 mpg overall, it's not driving habits.

I’ve many pictures like the one I posted, even at 55mph in 5th gear which is 2200rpm I was still getting 23mpg.

I guarantee you will get better MPGs if you drive slower.

Very true. The other upside is that all these trucks are getting around 300hp / tq where they were about 2/3 of that in the past.

Not bad at all, and certainly better than most of the full size, or for me, the costs of keeping vehicles on the road.

Truck when it’s cold, motorcycle when it’s warm. I get 18 90% highway going avg 70 which I believe is worse than my 1st gen

what if he drives on the freeway where 65,70 or 75 mph are the speed limit? This isn’t the old days where 55mph and 60mph were the high end speed limits.

I was breaking in 5.29 gears recently and was driving on the interstate fluctuating between 50-55mph. I got close to 20mpg with 2.5” lift and 33’s on the 50 mile trips I was doing. But boi I never pissed off so many drivers. Middle fingers. Horns. Flashing lights. Brake checks. It was totally nuts.

23 is good. I linked to the video to try to show you that the tailgate isn’t “acting like a parachute” on modern trucks, not get you into a Ram!

Speed limit is the max, generally you should drive what is safe for road conditions and traffic but the speed limit is still the max. Most of California is 65mph but it is 55mph when towing a trailer.

I’m not sure either but my Subaru gets over 2 mpg more using Costco gas than the gas station down the block. I’ve done the test 7 times in all different weather and it’s consistent. All of our gas is 10% Ethanol crap. I didn’t realize this until the 2nd time Costco wasn’t open and I used the other gas.

Was reading at least 23.4mpg for the first 40 miles doing the speed limit which is 55mph in those farm land roads and on 138 in the antelope valley. Mostly flat but with a few small ups and downs.

Fuelly is user aggregated data from hundreds of owners. No offense, but more of a basis to form decisions on than one person in Tacoma world.
