I get it, this is a first world problem, nanny issue that is worthy of ridicule...but...; I am looking for some feedback from those with this option who may have run into problems with this feature.

Bought my Taco in December and the APP worked fine for the first 3 weeks, but then I lost the ability to: start/stop the vehicle via the app, no longer have the where parked feature, and cannot lock/unlock doors. Truthfully, the only thing I care about is starting the truck outside of the FOB remote start distance (FOB still starts the truck).

For troubleshooting information: The app still reads mileage and fuel quality, but not distance until empty (standard feature). All windows, doors, etc have been opened/closed multiple times to ensure everything is buttoned up. The FOB will still start the truck. The APP has been deleted and reinstalled 3 times. The remote services have been reactivated literally about a dozen times now. Everything else about the vehicle is still working perfectly (love this truck!)

I’ve talked to Toyota 3 times now, and no answer? If you have had similar issues and have solved them, let me know! If you have had similar problems, have had no success fixing but Toyota made it right, let me know. If you want to poke fun of me for wanting a warm truck when it’s 10 degree’s out...what the hell, let me know that too:crapstorm:

I don't have the APP on my Taco. But my wife has it on her Rav4 - Your free trial period has ended. Now you have to pay the subscription fee's. ??? maybe?

I haven't had my truck long, but have not been able to successfully start it via the app yet. It does tell me fuel level, doors locked etc. I'll have to try again tonight. I've never tried to lock/unlock via the app.

I put the app on my phone and the truck when I got it in December. I couldn't get the authorization number to work when I punched it into the radio (still says I need the number). Everything always worked on the phone app for me. I pushed the SOS button and explained it to the person on the other end. A week later I got a call on my cell from somebody at Toyota USA (I'm in Canada) Telling me that there was a glitch that they are working on and when they get a fix they will call me again.

Try disconnecting the battery for 30 minutes. A hard reset may fix it for you.

The trial period is a year, but I did ask Toyota if somehow it switched off going from 2019 to 2020? They confirmed my subscription is still good.

Hopefully I’ll get a call back soon? Twice now they’ve said they were going to call back and I haven’t heard from them:frusty:

What is Toyota doing.... They're known for being behind the times but reliable and good. Now twice they've tried something new (Atkinson/Otto engine, and this) and have flubbed. I hope they stick to the old tried and true in the 4th gen :(

Sounds like comm issues. Where abouts are you? Has the weather significantly changed for the colder? As someone else said, it could also be a DB/Server issue with Toyota as well. Hoping to set up AM remote start in mine soon, kind of happy I didn't up trim and depend on Toyota for it.

I don't have the same problem as you, but I have another .

The app won't start on my Koodo cell network at all, it says unsafe network detected. Toyota told me it's a known problem back in November and said they're working on it. They're either lying or too stupid to fix it because it should be a simple fix that doesn't take over 2 months. It hasn't been a huge inconvenience as it works fine if I'm on WiFi or if I connect to my VPN even if it's from my cell signal.

I'm in Vancouver, where are you?

They also told me in Canada we don't get the full entune features which is why it shows the registration screen even after you enter the code. Mine does the same as yours still asking for it. I call bullshit though as toyota.ca advertises entune working in Canada. Probably another glitch those idiots can't fix. I love my Taco, but Toyota's implementation on new tech features is nothing short of embarrassing. I'd still have bought the truck though!

Me too. Mine works perfect but the authorization number won’t take. I’ve just ignored it since it’s working

I’m in the states, Connecticut. It was a great feature on cold mornings that I’m definitely missing right now. Hopefully Toyota comes up with a fix soon? I’ll probably stop by the dealer next week if I haven’t heard anything by then...

Well, not sure why it worked this time, but I re-loaded the app again and this time it worked? I had done so twice before and the only difference was doing it while sitting in the truck. Hopefully this time it will stick, as it’s cold as shit here today and remote start would be awesome!

Update - tried my remote start again leaving the office on Friday and it worked perfectly, which was surprising since the truck was in an underground parking structure. App seems to be fully functional now.

I know this is a month old...but just realizing now my app doesn't work and last week it did...can you confirm if yours is up and running?

Mine is up and running and has been working perfectly since my last update. As I mentioned, the only difference in my approach, was reinstalling the app, and setting it up while sitting in the truck. Outside of the truck it never worked, but when sitting in it, it did?

I had talked to Toyota multiple times and they were never able to figure it out. When they called me last (a day after I got it working) the tech support person seemed very interested and surprised by my solution. Hopefully this works for you!!!!

This Toyota app is a piece of shit!! slower than a dead snail.
Can't get the damn thing to work most of the time, when it decides to work it'll take up to 2 minutes for it to start the engine. A total joke, when my trail period runs out Toyota can kiss my ass...
