Agreed. Everyone should get a 12C and learn how to use it. I have 2, plus A 12C app on my phone.

Pen, paper and a basic calculator works just fine.

Some of you should look into meds. Depression, it's the reason you're over spending and over eating

But I took a double dose of mine, because I was really down. That’s how I ended up with this truck.

I've had my original 12C for 20 years and picked up a second one at a garage sale for a few bucks. Sure, a pen, paper and calculator works, but learning the basic 6 functions of a dollar with a 12C makes it much more efficient. Plus the vintage plastic buttons are very satisfying.

It's called living within your means. Get reliable transportation you can afford, don't splurge on junk, and put money away.

OP, please, please, please listen to Dave Ramsey on YouTube. Learn about the baby steps and avoid all the mistakes 99% of us have made. I burned so much money on motorcycles and cars before I took on a mortgage, wife and 3 dogs. The thrill of buying that dream car/new car fades much sooner then your payments do. It's a hard pill to swallow as a young gearhead, but please listen to it. I have lost more than $50k in vehicles because I kept telling myself the next one will keep me happy, or I will be somehow complete if I just get this next mod...It's all bullshit. I lived from big purchase to big purchase. That's the only reason I saved.

Be smart with your money and get a way better high by being outrageously generous to your family and friends when they are in need, because that time is always right around the corner.

Of course you'll see I have a 16 Taco, so I am coming off a little hypocritical. It was my first new car and it was ordered just for me. I got it at a time when I made a big career leap and nearly doubled my salary. My wife and I talked a lot about selling it and getting a first gen Tundra and pocketing $15k. Ultimately we decided to keep this and it will be my last truck, ever (I'm 34 and drive it about 2-3k a year). So the savings on it will come on the back end, when it is 40 years old and running fine because I am meticulous about maintenance and it is garage kept. But I am selling my motorcycle to pocket the cash.

Moral of the story is I got a better high helping my best friend through hard financial times, giving to charities we believe in every month, and battling cancer in my dog everytime it comes up with no concern for the cost, then any feeling I ever got from any car or bike. And to think where I could be now if I had started living this way right out of college.

Exactly. I'm 40 and I call my 19 TACO my retirement truck.. Got it set up for travels and camping but other than that I still daily drive my 2000 F-150 that's rusted away and flaps going down the road. People ask me if I'm crazy paying for a new truck and driving a piece of shit.

It's easy when you have already paid for the new one. I don't care what people think I know I have my new YOTA at home.

I'm not sure how good that advice may or may not be. If it was a sure thing I'd have done it.

On thing no one said is what I do when buying a vehicle after I have my down payment. I go to my credit union and get pre-approved for an auto loan. That really tells what you can spend. Credit unions also have better loan terms and generally better more affordable banking services. Once I get my car I have them take the payments out of my account on my bi-weekly pay day not monthly. The auto payment usually gives a 1/4% discount on the APR. Paying biweekly if you get paid that way makes budgeting the car payment a bit easier.
If you are not banking at a credit union it's worth seeking out one in your area you can join.

Just can you make a car payment doesn’t mean you can afford it, they are two very different things.

    True.
We have had plenty of discussion about that in here already. There are many methods and ways to figure out that.

Do you know how long you plan to keep the truck? Also do you know how many miles a year you will use it? Tacomas lease very well. I leased mine. Feel like I stold it.

That was my whole point not instead of buying monsters, cable, pop, fast food that I saved anough for a new Toyota TRD Sport and still have another truck on the Rd and I already could afford the payment. Not an investment forum on digital currency that I just used to pick up a hoagie, LOL.

Start a new post on financial advise, for us..

...wait, I was told that 18 months ago too...I'm still waiting

For reals though, this is the worse advice you could give anyone. This coming from someone that owns lots of crypto but I would never ever tell anyone to do the same, probably the worse investment you could make :)

Not sure when you bought bitcoin. But 18 months ago it was $6500. Please tell me another investment that has yielded you a approx 50% gain in 18 months while suffering through a massive bear trend. I wouldn't tell anyone to buy Tesla today, doesn't mean it's a bad investment. Just bad timing. Perhaps you entered a few months before? during the bubble of 2017? That would be bad investment timing. You're supposed to buy LOW, sell high. So in hindsight you bought the equivalent of penny stocks in the crypto market during a bubble and lost your money. Perhaps do more research before investing. That goes for 401k's, IRA's and stocks too.

Haha, thanks sport. I didn’t say I haven’t made money, and I didn’t buy 18 months ago. I’ve been buying btc and other cryptos since ~2010. The only btc I’ve sold is in the 2017 bubble, I sold a small amount of btc and bought a Raptor. However, I still stand behind my statement that suggesting anyone, as an investment, buy in to crypto is a fool. Anyone that buys in to just about anything that can be manipulated so easily by a single party and not be willing to lose it all and claim it an investment isn’t the sharpest tool out there. Keep trying bud.

So you bought bitcoin in 2010 when it was pennies. You sold some when it was 20k.. yet you're somehow waiting for BTC price to run again because you were told it would 18 months ago? like you've been let down? Dude, if you're telling the truth you do know bitcoin has gone up since you bought it by over 9 MILLION percent?
