Lol yeah crickets are stinky and loud. Dubias can be a pain because they burrow or play dead or both ... so if the tarantula doesn't immediately grab the roach they will probably miss it. I've got a lateralis roach colony and they are great since they don't burrow OR play dead and just run around like morons when you drop them in with the spiders.

:ohsnap: Always good with information! I'll have to keep the lateralis in mind. At the moment getting a few crickets from PetSmart/Co is my way to go, feed em and done.

I learned the hard way with the Dubias. I had an awesome colony going but just got too frustrated as they were a challenge to feed to my spiders. So I just dumped the colony into my neighbor's backyard and called it a day ...

That sucks. If your humidity was high and you had the correct temperature gradient, than I would chalk it up to their reproduction strategy, a lot of young and little parental care (compared to other taxa, i.e., not all are meant to survive). At the breeder I worked at we wouldn't sell them till they at least were quarter size. There would always be some mortality before that even though they were all kept in identical environments.

I've heard that too. Plenty of invertebrates are actually very healthy if you can get over the mental factor of eating them.

Spidersworld.eu will be shipping tarantulas soon! Here's 2 snapshots of what my next order will probably include:
