    The reason they call the autism spectrum a "spectrum" is because there are varying degrees of it. Aspergers is at the high-functioning end of the spectrum; People with autism generally have above-average intelligence, though unfortunately a lot of people with Rain Man-like personalities are believed to be of lower intelligence. Autism can sometimes go hand-in-hand with intellectual disabilities like mental retardation, which results in below-average intelligence, but lower-functioning individuals still have photographic elephant-like memories. Autism can also can hand-in-hand with Bipolar Disorder and Schizophrenia.

    Some people, including Ben from last night, can tell I am on the spectrum because they themselves are in the spectrum (it takes one to know one, right?). Neurotypical (NT) individuals like my boss from Puck (who took special education teaching classes in college) can also tell right off the bat that something is up with me. Most people, however, do not seem able to tell that I am on the spectrum. Statistically, I am just like most people in my age range and demographic. I have a driver's license and my own vehicle, I have a college degree, and I have a steady job; Perhaps unlike a lot of people from my generation, I know how to drive a stick shift! I can name two friends, one on the spectrum and one NT, who know the art of the third pedal; Both of them drive 18-wheelers for a living so they have to know how to drive stick!

    @Taco critter

    Do you think I should put power windows in my truck, and if so is that something you know how to do?

    So it has factory intermittent wipers?

    I miss the days when you get a Taco SR5 with manual windows!

    You would never guess she’s pushing 110K, or even that she was anywhere over 100K...

    Do you run full synthetic in the car? Also, I think I might have run my Bose earbuds through the wash...

    I usually just run a Semi-Synthetic in the car, last time I sent a sample in to Blackstone they said the results show it as one of the best 5.0s they have on record. Hopefully the ear buds will be ok, the wash probably did them in though.

    Actually, I plugged them into my iPod, cranked it up, and they seem to be working fine! 90% sure they went through the dryer too...

    One time, a little over two years ago, me and a bunch of friends went up to the Poconos. My best friend's parents own a house in the mountains and we got to use it for the weekend; That was a record-setting cold weekend, with a windchill of like -20. We went to this indoor water park on the last day. When it was time to go, I didn't want my sopping wet swimsuit in the truck, so I threw it in the bed. It was about an hour and a half drive home, and when I got home, my swim trunks were frozen solid!

    I bet they were frozen fast, those below zero days are brutal.

    But I had the heat cranked in the truck, and it worked so well that I was wearing a T-shirt with no jacket the whole drive home!
