Not yet. Sorry for the delay. Working through my backlog since getting my equipment working again.

Just wrapped up testing on the new Diode Dynamics SS3 fogs, and I want to get some testing of their SAE driving pattern and spots before sending the lights back. I've got a few more things in the queue, but I'll get to them soon!

Sharp! You should make a bottom for it as well so they are in their own box!

I was worried about excessive heat and still wanted to maintain some level of ventilation.

I'm on this band wagon! Ordered Phillips H9s. So what are we using to upgrade our brights?
    Same thing?

Welcome! Your high beams already are running the German Philips H9s. It is the best performing halogen bulb available. For a real high beam upgrade, you need driving lights. See my post below:

Would the Hikari’s better than the OE H9’s for the higher beams?

My measurements say ~20% improvement. Distance high beam testing is way more challenging for me though, as I end up blasting all my neighbors house windows and I'm sure they already think of me as that crazy guy always out there with his light contraptions. So I am less confident in those numbers as my distance testing wasn't as thorough as I would have liked.

I've been following this post for a while mainly bc I have a 2008 Impreza with terrible h11 projector low beams. I think they have a multi layered problem but as we dont have many nice days to polish them out this time of year I thought upgrading bulbs was in order. So far I have been really happy. They project further and provide much better foreground lighting than the old, probably degraded german osram bulbs they replaced. I commute at all hours, 45 miles on interstate and am much more comfortable with the visibility in the little car now. I used the link to powerbulbs.com a few pages back and am so far very happy. They were about $35 shipped from England vs $72.99 + sales tax for high end silver stars locally. I may end up buying a set for the taco just because.

I see Hikari has released another bulb and it's kinda interesting to see that they are focusing on beam pattern now and not just lumens. I have had the Hikari Megatron's for awhile and they have been totally fine beam pattern and all but still curious about this new model they are calling night king.

Anyone using these Hikari night kings?

High beam German Philips H9s the same as the low light Philips H9s? I got the Philips h9's but don't want to blind people if they are the same as the high beam light.

The high beams utilize a reflector housing without a defined cutoff. The low beams utilize a projector housing. The projector housing creates a safe "passing light" cutoff for the beam. It will not blind oncoming traffic regardless of which bulb you use.

The OP's research has shown that the H9's used in the factory high beams also yield the best results in the low beam projectors. The additional output does come at a cost. It limits bulb life. Many including myself feel that the extra output is worth the increased frequency of bulb changes.

I suggest you read through the detailed comparisons in the original post. Crash does a great job of explaining everything. If you decide to use the H9's you will need to make some minor modifications or purchase adaptors because the factory low beams use H11 bulbs. All of this information can be found in the first post. Good luck.

Thanks for the confirmation. I did read quickly actually the first 20 or so pages then skipped around, I must have missed that page that explains that. :hattip:

Ended up changing out my HID low beams for the Phillips German H9. I’m happy with the lights and no more bouncy lights or at least it’s not as noticeable. Has anyone used the GE Megalight ultra +130 in there fog lights or is that a bad idea? @crashnburn80.

The GEs or any of the performance H11s are a good upgrade for the H11 TRD fog equipped trucks if not wanting to swap to an SAE LED assembly. The performance affect isn’t quiet as significant as the headlights since the headlights are a focused pattern and the fogs are a distributed wide angle pattern.
