So, I jumped on the hype bus and got a set of king 2.5’s with adjustable resis. Only to have them leak both oil and nitrogen. Twice! They’re currently at king hq getting looked at . Down a truck for however many days they decide to look at my suspension. To be fair. I turned them in the week after “King of the Hammers”. So I understand where the priority lies. But as I stare at my truck I can’t help but wonder if I should have gone Fox the way I went with my mountain bike

From what I’ve read and suspension shops I’ve talked to, King shocks are not up to par with Fox, ADS, and Elka

I’ve read through almost all of the thread. I’m trying to find out what the thread measurement came out to for somebody with a 3rd gen 4x4 and no extra weight. Using the extended travel 2.5 coilovers with 600# 13” springs. I’m trying to gain about a 2.5” lift. going to use it as a reference to start at before I install them.

your gonna be topping out your shocks hard to get that 2.5" lift on 3rd gen. Stick with 2" and keep a good ride IMO

I don’t have any hands on experience. I’ve just heard about their materials, seals, and springs aren’t as good a quality as the other 3 brands I mentioned. They don’t hold up as well

Ive read this throughout the thread and I’ve read and heard the opposite. That’s why I am trying to get some answers from those that have this exact setup. I don’t want to have to change out the springs if the 600# ones don’t get me close to 2.5” of lift

I have 600 x 13" on now and am switching to 600 x 14" soon for this reason. I don't have much weight (skids and sliders) and have more preload than I prefer with only a little over 2" lift over stock. New springs are already sitting in the garage.

would you mind going in a little more detail about your measurements?
    Thank you for the reply

Every manufacturer is going to have problems. That's just apart of the game.

Materials will be different and design but overall you can get them all to work well.

Anyone by chance have the part number of either of these guys? Can’t seem to get a straight answer, and just trying to figure out with rebuild kit to buy and the stamped # on the bottom doesn’t correlate to any current number. Rears are 2.0 piggybacks I believe and fronts are 2.5 RR with IBP, worth rebuilding?

You can't get an answer because the fronts are a Fox Military shock. Buy a 2.5" IBP rebuild kit.

We can get you the rebuild kits needed for both. Shoot us an email with those pics and we can get you an estimate. Definitely worth rebuilding vs replacing. They don't look too beat up, so shafts are probably fine. Sales@accutuneoffroad.com

For people with the Fox 2.5 extended travel, how much settling did your coils have after install?

Mine settled a little over 1/2". I think it might be because of the stock 13" x 600 springs. I have 14" x 600 springs sitting in the garage and will be swapping them out in the next month or two because of this.

Do you have any extra weight added to your taco? What is the measurement of the threads above the collar and how much lift did it give you?

I have sliders and steel skid plates. I'm not sure about the measurement of threads above the collar but it's more than I prefer. 2 1/4" lift over stock. I'm looking to decrease preload and gain another 1/2" with the new springs.
