you have to widen the plastic about an 1/8th inch. its plastic so a file will do but i used a Dremel with a sanding disc.

Do you want comfort? or convenience?

For comfort, ditch the E rated 33's and 5100s. C rated all terrains and maybe Monroes will be better for highway ride comfort. Don't use poly bushings on your suspension. Maybe throw some dynamat type stuff under the carpet and everywhere you can reach to help quiet down the cab. Seat swap if you want, but I actually like the seats in my 04 doublecab more than my '17 4Runner. Go figure.

For convenience, get a decent stereo deck with bluetooth for the phone.

Leather wrap for the steering wheel. Bluetooth HU with backup camera. Sound proofing. I used Frost king duct insulation. very inexpensive and works fine.

It's a truck... that aggravates my tinnitus and is loud enough to make it hard to hear the radio. Ease up.

As I posted in that thread, I think there were some flaws with your methodology with hand entering values you happened to read off the meter.

Human hearing, like all other senses, is pretty unreliable. So just because you didn't perceive a difference, doesn't mean other people won't. Clearly people do, of which I'm sure at least some of that is confirmation bias. But just like the placebo effect, if you think it's working, it actually is (to a degree)...

Now that it's been a few months, I'm wondering if you've noticed anything since then, like less fatigue, etc...

Bar none my favorite mod on the entire truck was the IS300 wheel swap. Its thicker, its leather wrapped and cushiony, its 3 spoke and a tad smaller then the OEM wheel. And it allows for a better view of the clock (for me anyways). Best of all, it was $16 at the local junkyard. And the cruise works fine on the 01+ trucks. I used a Rav4 airbag so I get a Toyota logo.
    IMG_20200205_163707067.jpg

Aside from that Ive done a few things to make my base model interior a bit more modern. A lighted ignition ring, a double cab seat+console swap, a door activated map light from a 2nd gen 4Runner, and a good single din (view on the double dins is trash) Sony headunit.

Ive got a pile of parts growing too, a 4Runner climate control unit that allows for the use of any color dash LED without that orange tint, and 4Runner lighted cigarette lighter. Along with that Ive been wanting to add more black trim inside thats not spray painted. I replaced the steering column trim with a black set off a 4Runner, Ive got a black J shift knob from yet another 4Runner, a Black Leather wrapped shift knob from a Land Cruiser Prado is on its way, as well as a new black leather shift boot.

Anything that reduces your ability to hear, you know, sirens, nearby vehicles, cross walk signals, etc... is generally frowned upon.

And I addressed you comments on the very same day. Your response to that I think goes beyond the scope of what is reasonable for someone trying to be the first to empirically show the efficacy of Frost King, using a $20 decibel meter. That's $20 more than anyone has spent on this subject. I have absolutely nothing to gain from people believing me.

Okay, and that's exactly why I used a decibel meter, so... Clearly the next step to satisfying your demands is writing a grant proposal, collaborate with scientists in the relevant field, create an experimental design, conduct testing, write a manuscript, and publish in a credible peer-reviewed journal.

No, nothing has changed. In fact I have a very serious problem with falling asleep after anything more than 15 minutes of driving. My commute is 45 minutes. Sleep test results says no apnea, so awaiting further tests. Although I don't drive my wife's car as much to be confident about the difference, I don't have a problem with falling asleep in her car. The only way to reliably stay awake is to play really loud music, which... aggravates my tinnitus.
