Don't think those roads are open yet. Most of the dirt roads are closed through the end of March (I think) gate or no gate. If the gates are closed for the roads that have them, then I'm guessing the roads without gates are closed too.

I thought that clarification was funny. I guess if you have a motorized scooter, you're good to go.

I guess no matter how many times we try to help explain the rules about forest closures it dosnt seem to mater. Nobody gets it, until it's to late.

Your best bet is call the ranger station for that area.
I called last week and was told all of MET is closed. This week might be different. It can’t hurt to call and confirm.

Nice, I was wondering about the status of Usal Rd.

Did you make it only to the beach? Is the rest of the trail going up north gated off?

don’t go take a peek. Don’t break the rules. Don’t.

delete your post, say sorry and don’t break the rules for the love of all things good.

for anyone wondering. Read the phi king website. It’s super plucking clear.

Maybe many of you guys should hang out here more instead of only visiting and posting when you do get out. Things here in the woods aren't like conditions in the city or the sea level areas. When I snowmobiled, I had good knowledge of when I could get out to cut firewood due to snow conditions changing and snow level moving up.

Rancho Seco, worth going or stay home? A friend is retiring from the DOJ, backpacked with her a number of times until her physical issues halted that. She is having a retirement picnic/party there, but I figured I would stay home instead of the four hour drive there. Not really worth camping there?

It’s pretty cool there. You can kayak and fish on the lake, there is a short trail around the lake and a 7+ mile hiking trail through the plains and meadows, bunch of pretty flowers this time of the year. There are tent and trailer campsites. Enjoyable, slow, and chill. Bring a fishing pole.

Thank you, my friend in Sac said there was fishing, no word about how the camping is. Our friend is Filipino and her friends and family will be there, thought it will be too boisterous and dramatic as they like to be expressive, excitable.
