Also pretty sure Toyota has a bigger problem with frame rot than bed rot :D

The guy I bought my 1991 from was a canoe builder and I use my trucks. By 2015 when I replaced it with my 2008 that bed looked like a golf ball from all the dents, drops, junk thrown in. Didn't think I'd like this bed on the Tacoma but honestly it's been fine. Plus I run a rubber bed mat and not having it wear all the paint off the ridges is actually better.

I've had bedmats in every truck I've ever owned. They keep things from sliding around as well

Just buy a can of bedliner. Clean it up with a lil sandpaper for a fresh surface and then spray the bedliner. 8 bucks all in. To actually fix is gonna be pricey. And doesn’t Toyota have a damage waiver of like a 1000-1500 on the lease. I do on mine.

Maybe I missed the entry .... But did a dealer actually say it's not covered? Or, what they would do to do the best possible repair ($$?). JMO

This is why I would never ever Lease a vehicle. You're at their mercy. Invest in a tube of Vaseline and prepare to pucker up.

Doesn’t look bad. It might be the photo is to close to the bed. A wider view of the bed might look different. I’d say buy a mat and let her fly. The composite beds scratch with cardboard boxes filled with girls scout cookies!

Which was a major issue on the Toyota trucks, especially pre-Tacoma. My wife had one before I met her that had the rot and she tried everywhere to find a replacement bed but even warm areas still couldn't keep them in stock.

Wouldn’t it be cheaper to buy out the lease and sell it as is? I would think you could sell it for what the buy out is or more, even with the damage. Haven’t leased a vehicle before but from what friends have told me, the buy out is pretty cheap. The interest and depression is already paid with your lease payments over the past 2-3years. Selling the truck on your own would be much less of a headache then trying to fix or replace the bed.
