Kind of a bad meme as DoD does use Fords. A shit ton of them. That is simply a 1008 (or 1028, depending on the tailgate), a very specific use vehicle and there weren’t as many as you’d think.

Fords were generally used as 6-packs, a multi-purpose community vehicle units used. There were also Chevy and GMC 6-packs - it all depended on what contracting could get for the best price.

Dodges were used primarily as tugs - special purpose tow vehicles for hauling all kinds of shit (USAF called themselves bob-tails because of the shortened wheelbase).

Overseas they tend to use local market vehicles, including a lot of Toyota Hiluxes.

And Chevrolet; AM General couldn’t keep up with demand. WWII was all about who could make what fast. Name brands didn’t matter.

lol Just what they stacked and blew together. Any large caches we had to blow with some form of EOD. Before route clearance really picked up (03’), we didn’t have EOD teams attached to us, so we got whoever. That day we got a couple Moldavians. We dig a pit to blow it, I don’t remember all of it but something like 300 mortars, little less then 100 artillery shells (122s), some RPGs, cylinders of propellant (artillery), grenades, and a bunch of other random shit. What was blown and how it was stacked was less then ideal. By rights, the amount of shit should’ve probably been about 3-4 separate shots. They were also kinda scary to watch how they handled shit.

The K10 blazer CUCVs were heaps of fun. Just don’t put your name on the hand receipt if you intend to go hucking it around in the desert at Fort Huachuca.
