Tell Toyota Corporate to have the dealer install a new fuel pump. No fuel pumps available they say? They would be wrong as there are all sorts of fuel pumps currently installed in unsold vehicles on dealer lots and those pumps will eventually need to be replaced or repaired anyway.

The dealer I bought it from wasn't interested in helping, and the local dealer here (I moved this past year) doesn't seem to know much about the issue in general and is waiting for corporate to sort it out. I've already filed with corporate and I am waiting to see what their response is.

Just added toolbox and roof-rack to haul my fishing boat 100's of miles into the backwoods every week. Goodrich K02s, Bilstein 5100 front and back, no lift.
That is terrible mileage. I have a 2016 TRD Off Road. I am averaging 21mpg and that is a proper empty tank to fill-up calculation, not that meaningless average mpg trip stat shown on the dash. I check my mileage every second fill-up or so.

Truck goes like a bat out of hell, crazy acceleration in any gear with no lag, and I have owned classic American muscle cars with 400hp. Not that kind of power, but surprises the heck out of me and anyone who rides with me. No mods, just some Goodrich KO2s for the bush and new Bilstein 5100 shocks. No lift, etc. I have put 30,000 miles on truck in last 12 months, with 6,000 of that on hardcore off road deep in the mountains of British Columbia. Only issue with the truck was replacement of a front passenger body mount. Truck has been fantastic and I have beaten the crap out of it on about 40 offroad trips in past year. Can't wait to test the new shocks. Stock Bilsteins failed as roads are harsh knock your chiclets out washboard. My 4th 4x4 and no real issues with any. 1986 F150, 1994 F250, 1997 Mazda B4000. All trucks beat to crap in the bush on hundreds if fishing trips, no issues. I will say though, todays flood of computerized technologies make trucks and cars far more susceptible to failures

I just want to point out that you say no mods, and then list your mods....

When I know the outcome, i'll post it here.

    Best-case is a replacement with a 2020.

I just wanted to point out that replacing wear items like shocks and tires is hardly a mod.

If they aren't Oem then they are a mod, because the vehicle has been modified from its original set up.

I got the recall notice today......no fix yet. With that said, I read some of your comments...As far as us being liable for an accident if we continue to drive, I don't think so UNLESS there is a fix and we haven't made a reasonable effort to get it in to be fixed... I did find this: it would be a cold day in hell where i wouldn't drive my 40k$ truck when there is no fix yet... Unless toyota delivers me a comparable vehicle until mine is fixed.

If a manufacturer issues a recall for your vehicle:

    • Read the recall notice carefully. If it tells you not to use your car until it’s properly repaired, follow these instructions. If you have questions about the recall, call your dealership or the manufacturer’s recall hotline.
    • Make sure to schedule the repair with an authorized dealer. It should not charge you for recall-related repairs.
    • Take the first available appointment. Even if the dealership is busy and you have to wait weeks, this will show that you tried to follow the recall notice.
    • If an authorized dealer refuses to do the repair or tries to charge you for it, contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
    • After a crash, do not dispose of the defective car parts. To prove your product liability claim, your lawyer’s expert witnesses will need to examine and test them. If someone else’s defective vehicle caused the crash, your lawyer will need to act quickly to retain the parts.

so the actual recall states the low pressure pump may fail during high speed driving. Also says higher speed driving. So what is considered high/higher speed driving? 65? 75? 85? 95? 105? 115?

Are all 2019's affected? I've checked Toyota's recall web site and nothing is listed for my VIN.

no. just a range of vehicles. Seems for the tacoma, those built between late 2018 and jan 2019. Mine was built in Jan 2019.

Got my notice today. The fine print said I should only drive down hill until there is a fix.

It also notes you can drive up hills in reverse so the fuel drains to the pump. It does not state how steep of a hill is required for efficient fuel delivery, so anyone's guess.

If we drive like this in San Francisco, the recall doesn't matter

Has anyone found reference to the fuel pump recall for their Tacoma when checking under their VIN# on the Toyota Recall website? https://www.toyota.com/recall
