I know a guy on base who has been discussing spindles with me for a while for his. He might be interested if he is trying to let them go for a less than that. I don’t think he’d low ball him based off our discussions but I also don’t see him paying 400.

So y’all winches to me gents! I honestly know very little about them. I highly doubt I’ll go top of the line simply because I don’t see myself using it THAT often. As always though I am okay with paying more than the cheap brands if it means it will last.

Lastly, anyone know of anyone that has a Gen3 skid plate they’re looking to part with? I don’t know what it is about that skid, but I like the 2.5’s who’ve I seen that added it.

You can’t go wrong with a smittybilt I had one used it several times and never let me down. Imho it’s worth the extra expense for synthetic line for weight and ease of handling.

Now I’m rocking a low end harbor freight 12k badlands haven’t used it yet but it seems pretty stout. Good build quality surprisingly, decent warranty, it’s identical to a old skool warn and bumped the line a couple of times it’s got some serious pulling power.

And, how do I find an aluminum skid plate - DV8 doesn't show any - are they a "standard" size for modded bumpers?

 

Hey no I havnt really looked into it I’ve been distracted by other stuff.
Any aftermarket Front skid Plate should work with the bumper since they are all basically the same design. Finding a transmission skid I’m not sure since I think the crossmembers are different you may wanna ask Brandon on that one.

I have one in my truck as I do a lot of driving. I didn't put one in my wife's car as she only drives 2.5 miles to work and back.

I just did a bunch of looking around. The best bang for the buck right now is a Gen2 Smittybilt XRC H2O from 4WP. There's no real upgrade for the Gen3 and they're trying to get rid of the older models right now. Order online or over the phone and you'll save the most, especially with a military discount, and you can pick it up same-day at the store. The store will honor their online prices but they don't have them marked as low as they do online.

9500 will work fine for our trucks. I would always recommend synthetic rope over wire but if you're not going to use it very often wire isn't a bad option.
