    I'm concerned about the size of their slings...after losing the Golden Blue-Leg, not wanting to risk taking one too small...

    Some are a bit larger and I've only had 1 sling from them die during a molt.

    When's the last time you got a mystery box?

    I'm interested, but would hate to receive more than I'm willing to handle all at once.

    I got one last Spring. I might add one to my next order as it's fun being surprised.

    @Pinay @boogie3478

    Think that starting with a Lasiodora parahybana (Brazilian salmon pink bird eater) be a good idea if I got one as a sling?

    They grow pretty slowly it seems which could work out in my case...

    Absolutely. That species isn't known to be aggressive, though individual spiders can have personality conflicts with how we think their species is supposed to behave. They are also pretty easy to take care of in that they don't have crazy humidity requirements, they eat well, live long, etc.

    Eh...is it because they're so small that they're super cheap?

    $2.33/ea...feel like I should buy 2 just in case something happens to 1 :anonymous:

    Despite what you might have heard, size doesn't matter ... at least with tarantula pricing. :D The main thing affecting tarantula pricing is simple supply/demand. Species that are difficult for breeders to get their hands on are more expensive.

    I got my first spiders from this place and they are great despite being more expensive than the European site. The shipping is expensive because it's overnight so you'll have the spider quickly.

    @boogie3478

    Decision time; Poecilotheria metallica (Gooty Sapphire), Brachypelma boehmei (Mexican Fire Leg), or Chromatopelma cyaneopubescens (Green Bottle Blue).

    All 3 are beautiful species in my opinion, and the second 2 on the list seem easy to care for.

    You should pick for me :anonymous:

    Lol I like all 3 but if you've never had a tarantula before then the second 2 are better choices ... with the brachypelma being my top pick simply because the green bottle blues have been known to be stubborn eaters. Brachypelmas are usually voracious.

    Was getting ready to feed a larger roach to one of my spiders today when I noticed it producing an eggsac (ootheca). It's life has been temporarily spared. :D

    That's another thing I'll need to look into now; feeders.

    My snakes eat frozen and never live, so this will be another new experience for me.

    If you only have 1 tarantula then buying small quantities of crickets (or flightless fruit flies if you have a small spider) at your local pet store and keeping them in a small enclosure is your best bet. You can leave pieces of fruit and veggies in with the crickets to "gut load" them which keeps them alive and makes them healthier for the spider.
