Upgraded factory stereo speakers.

Kept the head unit. It’s has the apple play for the 2020 models.
Upgraded to Focal components up front, Focals for rears, Sony 6-ch amp and JL Stealth 10” sub.

Sound is perfect and the bass is tight.

how big of a difference with the speaker amp into the head unit?

 

Yes big difference. I like clear high tremble and low tight bass. My setup is something I have used in previous vehicles so I knew what the sound was before this install as like.

 

Yeah i had a similar set up in my 2nd gen and loved it but had replaced my head unit. I’m picking up a 2020 soon and I’m intimidated by this giant stock head unit that can’t really be replaced. I Had only heard bad stuff about it, so This is real helpful! Is the stealth box powered?

the stealth box is not powered. Added a 6ch amp with DSP.

 

looks like a nice install. how you liking the JL so far?

 

The JL 10” W2 sub is crisp and tight bass. Paired up with Focal speakers all around and a 6ch DSP amp, this system sounds clean.

 

@frontieragent what focals did you go with? I’ve got that same JL but the 8” and love it. I’m looking into upgrading to possibly some focal KX2s very soon as I’m just running entry level coaxial focals at the moment and they’re good themselves imo

I do very much. It’s the second time I’ve used this particular model in my vehicles.

 

So did u have JBL or non-JBL version?

 

I had non JBL.

 

@frontieragent i finally bought my new focals dude and I’m IMPRESSED! I went with flax F3 2 way setup front and F3 coax rear and ive got them playing to 60hz and up and sound phenomenal imo! Passive setup currently. My subs are playing 80hz down. I’m going to install the twk 88 someday this week but I’m sort of thinking it’s not even needed now. Gonna try it anyway

What did you use to get sound signal to the amp? or does it take high volt input and convert it internally? I've got a 2020 with JBL and can't seem to find a DSP to get RCA low-volt outputs to put into an external amp
