Well on my 04 I'm running a 96 4Runner transfer case that came without a speed sensor and was plugged up. I'm running an electronic VSS now and there are like over 5 different Toyota part numbers for different sized VSS plastic gears.

On my 99 I'm running a 95 transfer case with a mechanical speed sensor and an adapter to work with the electric harness on the truck. I assume it takes the same plastic gears but it's seized to the case and I can't even pry it out with a giant pry bar.

 

Yeah I really need to weld up the NWTI bumper kit I have.

 

That's weird, why didn't the 96' have a speed sensor?

What different applications would you use the gears for?

So only 1995-1997 would have the plastic gears, what would the different gear part numbers be for?
