fe650... I wish you well in your efforts. Might be a tough battle with the beurocrats. Maybe our little volley here has sparked some interest in your cause and helped you understand some opinions from the other side. Its probably nice to have had the free platform to spread the word on your efforts. I hope you can get some more places to enjoy your hobby. (Not every place as we seem to agree upon.)

Any reason to replace the entire engine when the head gasket fails, if the rest of the engine is good? ( asking for a friend! )

Which is less costly? I would assume gasket replacement.

I mean, if only the head gasket is bad, why would you replace the whole engine. If you catch the problem right away.

 

If you do indeed know the history of the engine. Then your good to go.

If it is your engine completely different story .

My comments are directed by a unknown to me vehicle showing up which happens all to often

Then a failed Head gasket was it driven till it quit? I deal with this quite often

This is where it gets tricky is the head or heads cracked is the block warped ??

This is why so many suggest a used engine because they only have the customers word it never got hot.

So many places will suggest a used engine because for about the same time in labor semi skilled labor can swap a engine

 

I've been itching to get out there again.
