Just put some 265/70/17 on my truck on friday. Bought them for $832 from discount tire direct. They are some great looking tires, even though the hum on the highway is quite noticeable. Slowly getting used to it. Now I'm just waiting for the snow :)

alright gang, give me your opinion. I'm up here in Anchorage Alaska. We have lots of snow. I would love to find a tire I can run year round, but at the same time, do not want to sacrifice performance. I'm considering getting the Duratrac's in 285/70/17, having them studded, and using them as my winter tire. Once the snow is gone I'm looking at getting the BFG KM2's for summer in the same size.

I would be very interested to hear from anyone who has run the Duratrac's w/ studs.

Those of you who are running Duratrac's year round in places w/ harsh winters: should I have more confidence in these tires? Can I run them year round w/o studs and still get good traction in the snow/ice?

Thanks in advance for your input!

I just went to my local tire shop and bought some. Cost me like an arm and a leg and the guy stated that three people were already in there today getting the same tires. These tires by november will probally cost like $300 a pop and will be on backorder for several months. Definitley not before the new year most likely

Yea, i figure the reason these are getting so pricey are because its getting so close to winter season. these are "severe snow rated" and rated a 10 out of 10 in the snow.

get them quick before they are too expensive...

Best price i have found so far is still at sears...

5100's all around, OME 888 and Dakars. ProComp Series 05. Cooper SST Maxx 275s.
Did you look at 4 wheel parts? I got mine for cheap there and $50 shipping. Also with the treadlightly.org $100 rebate I think my overall cost was like $670 for 265's.

I lived in AK, drove a Taco and never had studded tires. Always kept sandbags in the bed for weight, and had to use 4x on occasion but never thought studs were necessary.

Did you have to pay for shipping at sears? Did their retail prices match their online prices? Online, they list them for $204, but shipping is pretty crazy.

sears tire center at the local mall gave me the price that was listed on the website... $171 for a load range E 265/75R16

since i bought them in store there was no shipping. I decided to get them installed on a set of 16" TRD Offroad Rims i had. It was no problem for them. The one problem i had was that the lug nuts on the stock wheels are different from the TRD wheels. So they had to drive to the local toyota dealership for the correct lug nuts. They charged me exactly what the dealer charged them and even gave me the invoice. I was thoroughly impressed.

Overall it was $940 for tires, install, lug nuts, and alignment...

Tire racks price was 194 plus shipping...

Yes he did. Some people just run the spacers up front to avoid the UCA. Some are like me and are anal, which means that spacers in the front equals spacers in the back. After paying $200 in spacers, you start to wonder if it makes more sense to just buy new wheels. Such a horrible dilemma.
