Yeah I don't regret it one bit. Super handy and lightweight, easy to remove. Small once removed etc.

New to this subject, and on the fence about hard vs soft...
Where’s the best place to buy a new soft topper?
Top brand (or 2) to buy? I like quality without the branding markup. No Gucci for me...

Truck Bed by Rust-Oleum. Dont think I primed it though. Just be sure to tape up all the snaps and connectors for the bed rail. and anything else you dont want painted. I taped the black plastic hinges too.

Go Softopper, not Bestop. You don't need the windows on the side, easier for someone to look inside or crack in freezing temps, and the fit and quality of a smaller company out of Boulder, CO is great. Windows will degrade over time too and make it look worse. They are right up the street from me. My experience with Bestop and my previous Jeep was nothing compared to what I got out of Softopper. It also fits tighter with the Tacoma. You don't want to deal with more Velcro at the top of the windows.

In hindsight, I probably would have used something with no texture. Makes it easier for it to rub off in high friction areas. A few coats of flat or gloss may be better, but if you want bed liner, go for it. It's fine too.

These are no longer applicable. The new bestop is nothing like the old one. No longer has the windows, no longer has the center hump, its got zippers all the way around, bottom mounts with a track system that works very well. It fits much better now than the last model.

Gotcha. Hated the zipper windows too. Zipper corners suck, straight up and down are fine. Less is more to me personally, just don't need windows. Still looks the same on the website though, unless they haven't updated the website yet...

I selected 2018 and it shows me the new one. Perhaps they still sell the old one too

Here is mine. I do wish it fit tighter to the top of the cab though like the softopper does.

This picture makes it look funny, but I think its just the angle combined with my camera being weird. It looks much better in person

I was looking at both tops, I ended up with the bestop because I liked the removable sides (instead of just rolling them up) and I got 10% off + free shipping. Ended up being cheaper than the softopper.

I wish they sold easily. I listed mine on CL for 400 and it was only 2 Months old. Was listed on CL for almost 3 months and had only 1 person inquire about it and he wanted it for basically free. I finally got tired of having it listed and removed the ad. Still have it to this day. And the listing was in a large California city so idk. It’s hit or miss I guess on selling. Anyway that was my experience. Take care.

If you listed it here on TW it wouldn’t last a week.

Was hoping to keep it local but for right now, I’m just going to hang on to it.
