Installed my Spiker Engineering hoodstruts this morning with the help of my Son Cole (a Toyota Landcruiser owner 2004 100 series) took our time and did it right maybe an hour ‍♂️ ... I highly recommend this mod ... you’ll need a rivetgun, hammer & punch, some painters tape drill w-3/16 metal bit, marker & flat head screwdriver that’s it ... this mod allows you to get full lift out of your hood instead of factory lift height with the OEM hood rod

Thanks for the shout out and the pictures, these look great in your truck! Very helpful for folks who asked whether these struts work with ditch lights - obviously yes :).

@SpikerEng ....what's the life expectancy (# of lifts) for these?

I seem to want to open my hood more than in the past..... :D

That seems to be a common phenomenon, I found myself doing the same when I first installed them!

No worries about wearing them out, gas struts "die" of old age, rather than cycles (unless you're talking hundreds of thousands, by which time your hinges and latches will probably wear out first :D). They lose about 3% of their capacity per year due to gas leakage, so you should have many many years before they need replacement.
