Read about the Zipp Motos a few weeks ago on Radavist and their description definitely grabbed my attention:
    https://theradavist.com/2020/02/bel...-riding-with-the-zipp-3zero-moto-29er-wheels/

Would be great to see some feedback from someone who actually owns them. Please keep us posted, @abacall !

They designed the wheel to have some vertical compliance to smooth out some of that jarring that comes from the typical carbon rim, and added in the moto-style "ankle'flex" to allow additional conformity, pinch-flat protection, and durability. That should mean a more forgiving feel, with the lateral stiffness and durability of a carbon rim.At least that's the marketing claim.
I like the feel of carbon as long as it's not too stiff for me. I replaced my stiff carbon bars with more compliant ones lately, and it was noticeable. Thought I'd give the wheels a try too.
I laced them up to Zipp's specs, as they would have built in their factory.
Now for the snow to melt off the trails again...

Which handlebars did you go with? I'm shopping new carbon bars and stems as we speak.

Running Deity Skywires and Renthal carbon fatbars, both 35mm, both feel great. Skywires feel more suited to AM, Renthals feel good on the big bike. I would also look at the Oneup bars, though I haven't tried them. I think it comes down to the shape and brand you like.

Edit: I just took off a 35mm Renthal Apex Stem (35mm length), if you're interested shoot me a pm.

The Latchit Rack would probably work well for you. Give you some more space too.

At $1400 for just the bare rims, @abacall I’ll just have to live vicariously through you. Way too rich for my blood.

    HELP WANTED:

I'm leaning towards a Dakine tailgate pad for my 2017 Taco...Has anyone experienced any scratches or anything like that on the tailgate as a result of using these type racks (or am I over analyzing it?)

Looking for some advice: l would like to get back into commuting by bike, but the ride is 11 miles each way (9 miles on a paved bike trail through a park along a river which is awesome, 2 miles on streets).

Due to the distance I would like to get into an e-bike. My needs are at least 30 mile range and pedal assist up to 25 mph, and under $2000. The problem is I'm 6'5" and I can't seem to find an e-bike with a frame large enough (my old bike is 61 cm). I would appreciate any suggestions you all could provide, I just started looking but so far I'm coming up short...

I'm probably one of the few that prefer the Rock Razor over the DHR2 and DHF for a rear tire. Knobs falling off the DHR2 is a good excuse to go back to the RR's.

Rotors and cassette are on. If you don't own a Park tool repair manual, I highly recommend one. Walks you through basically how to repair and replace every bike part, torque values, etc. Thanks again @mtip for the christmas gift!

Rear brake is soft and squeaky. Trying to fix this shit rather than taking it in lol. Don’t have the tools to bleed mineral oil breaks tho so it’ll probably still have to go in :anonymous:

Makes sense, I’d just start buying whatever tools you need to do maintenance. Chain whip, cassette tool, and a chain tool are probably all you need to do some basic tear down, cleaning and maintenance. I just bought a bleed kit off Amazon, haven’t tried it yet but seems decent.

Have you tried the WTB Trail Boss? They roll like the RR, but have more grip from the center tread. I like their casing/compuind options too. Simple; tough or light casing? Fast or grippy rubber? You can get any combo of the two. Their tough/fast combo is killer for a rear tire. It's heavy, but they are incredibly tough, like DH casing tough. Plus, they're cheaper...
They recently updated them, and the new profile is really good. Tight and low center tread (though not as much as the RR), tall and stable side knobs. They break traction predictably too.

Old on the left, new on the right...

Get the tools. Get to know how to bleed brakes, it's easy enough and once you know how you'll be doing it more regularly and have good feeling brakes all the time.

I really like that setup! I’m in sugar land contemplating getting a RTT and bed rack setup myself. I mostly use my road bike nowadays and I’m afraid of leaving a RTT strapped to the back of the truck 24/7. Thoughts on keeping it more theft resistant?
