I know this is gonna get me some grief but for those that use heaters in your tents like I do have you figured out a way to suspend the heater from the bars above? I have the kovea Cupid heater and it’s awesome. Was thinking of suspending a metal sheet(cookie sheet?) with some metal wire. I am not that good at engineering clever ideas though so I thought I would see if anyone smarter than me has solved this idea lready? Thanks!

We have the 23zero walkabout 72. It’s big and weighs 160lbs. We are running it with 3 whispbars (until I can change to a rack) which are decently heavy and I haven’t seen any flex or cracking or anything in my old ARE shell. I had the SN ran and it was rated to 300 lbs but the rule of thumb seems to often be that the rating is a quarter of what the actual failure numbers would be. We took it all over some rough roads this last week in Big Bend and I see zero issues. Just my thoughts.

Hey, Im new to the rtt world. I just got a SB overlander. The ladders is very very iffy. Are there any replacements for it? Ive been looking at the tepui telescoping ones, but I keep hearing people saying that they end up sticking and not working very well. I will be camping at the beach in this tent often so that may be a problem. What do you guys recommend?

I'm not familiar with the SB ladders but they seem very similar to the ladders on ARB tents which I have. I haven't deployed on sand but I would think some sort of base plate would help the sturdiness, maybe have some cotter pins to secure it while deployed. You can always drill your own holes if the ladder extension is usually the same length as well.

Do you have pics of where/how it drilled into the tent?

I used one set of existing mounting holes and drilled a new set as the mounting locations are not exactly the same. Easy swap though.

Did you buy the ladder and the bracket mounting set, or did the original SB set work with the tepui ladder?

Hope this can answer your question!
Spoiler: It talks about static and dynamic loads. I hope you're not driving around with people in the tent lol

What about being on the shell was too tall? I have rack and DB cover as you do now and I'm looking to go to a shell to gain more bed space. My only concern is the tent being too high to be able to stuff it all together to pack it up.

...Each time, as I'd find another turnaround spot, I'd call Ben forward, the steep mountains limiting the distances that even our ham radios would communicate. The entire road was only 1.7 miles long, but it took us nearly 45 minutes to make it to the end - parts of the drive a white-knuckle experience, at least for me.

The view however - at the mine camp - was incredible.

Any chance you have a picture? This is the layout I was thinking. get the 50/50 thing going, and on mine it would be about the same. My only concern is the 55" awnings are so damn tiny if you had it extended without the tent.

The new ladder came with the mounting brackets. One bracket lined up and I drilled the holes for the other one.

I ordered mine through Box Rocket on the forum.

Not sure I understand your question. But with the tent on the shell, I was too tall to get into my garage or most parking decks. Now that I have the Diamondback set up, the top of the tent is just about the same height as the Prinsu rack so I can fit everywhere again.

It's also MUCH easier to pack up when it is lower, and its safer to get my dogs in and out.

I wanted to know basically what you addressed. Right now my tent is on a bed rack and I'm considering going to a shell to get more storage space. But I am hesitant to do so because I think it would be more difficult to pack up. As it is now once I fold the tent up I climb on top of my Diamondback cover and stuff everything in before I put the cover on. Not sure how I would do that if it were all atop a shell and I couldn't climb up there.
