Oil filters, What do you use?

I didn't even know about it, I can't anyway, i have to get ready for my wedding and pack for my honey moon.

I put on a "tough guard," same grip -- good stuff

 

tough guard is easy to find like wal-mart, I love wal-mart carrying Mobil 1 and Pennzoil but sure not the filters.

 

Thanks Chris, yeah I will pull them out because I want them done right. It only takes a few min to pull them out anyway.

 

Yup, you can't go wrong with the stock Toyota filter. It's actually the best one for your truck. They have a backflow valve inside them too. Plus, they are real cheap at around $3 a piece, so the price is hard to beat IMO.

 

Mobil 1 for filter and oil no matter what!!!

 

Mobile One and Toyota OEM filters... got a 10 pack for $40 shipped, you can't beat that.

dude the REAL OEM oil filter 90915 20004 is the best filter!! I'm telling do a google search and see will see a pic of this one guy cut it up and show u the inside!! the made in thailand is crap!

 

From all I can find, the 20004 is the filter that they put in initially for engine break in, and the replacement filter is the YZZD3. The YZZD3 might be made in Thailand, but they're both made by the same manufacturer, Denso.

they are different filter, the inside is what counts, YZZD3 uses paper and 20004 is filber... which one do u perfer?

Has anybody ever had a problem with the YZZD3 OEM filter (or the 'taller' filter that's made in Thailand)? I know it's made with paper and it's not as good, but I have a bunch of them that I got from a dealership on Ebay and I'd hate to waste them.

 

Mobil 1 is good, but for that price, i still get the Orginal 20004 filter
I think YZZD3 is good, but for like conventionl oil with like 3000 miles oil change, that's my opinion and i'm sticking to it!

anyone here uses Amsoil? i call my dealers and no one gets back to me... so hard to find it at the store!!

 

That's why I use RP. I don't think it's better than Amsoil, but it is on the shelf at all of my local auto parts stores in the weights I need.

As for the OEM filter, I haven't had a problem with them. I cut one apart and looked at oil flow through the element and it seems to me to flow and filter well. My only wish is that the metal of the can were a little thicker. They tend to squish and slip when removing them...even with the oil filter socket.
