As good as I thought it would be. I’ve always enjoyed the 10 year rye and had to try this when it was offered

Nice. I like the 10 year rye a lot, never had the pleasure of trying any of the BHs. What a score!

I would give it a try if you ever have the opportunity. Honestly though I would never pay 110 for a pour of anything

It'd have to be some super rare unicorn type stuff for me to spend that much on one pour.

Dang $500 for a pour on that list. That’s WAY too rich for my blood.

We winged it. We considered guided tours of the island but decided we'd rather keep our own timetable. And since we had a rental car anyway it made things easier. We spent one night on-island (http://islay-pods.co.uk/) and watched the sun come up, then we hit Lagavulin, Laphroaig, and Ardbeg. Had lunch out at the Mull of Oa, at the American monument, and hit Bowmore & Caol Ila on our way back to catch the ferry from Port Askaig. She doesn't drink Scotch, so she drove back across the island. Realistically we needed to spend more time on Islay, but only had so much time in-country and wanted to see as much as possible. You could easily spend a week just on Islay and still have more to do.

Awesome, that's great info! Right now I'm planning one week, with two days travel to/from home and two days travel/sight see to get to Islay from the Airport and back. That leaves us 3 full days on Islay... which I'm hoping is enough time to thoroughly enjoy all of the distilleries.

Thanks for the info, that really helps a ton.

No problem! Definitely book your distillery tours in advance; they filled up fast even during the off-season.

That is wild, but you also gotta realize that that whiskey was barreled in like the 70s. pretty wild and rare to think of. A 40 yr is insane. I've never seen one.

I just finished my liquor shelf. I collect a lot of whiskeys so my friends get me them for gifts often.

It’s crazy to think of the 70s as that long ago.
