To fix the hyper blink after doing the Fog Light Mod you can buy a LED resistor for $10 or you can just up your bulb size to 921 instead of 168. I just went and bought the 921 bulbs for my 03 tacoma to kill the hyper blink thanks to SRQ Taco for the advice and it worked! No more hyper blink and the bulbs cost $4.99 at autozone.

So the 921's are direct replacements (i.e., fit w/o modification) into the corner lamp bulb sockets?

    Correct good sir!

And to also put the 921's are way brighter than the stock 168's.

Yes! 921 bulbs are direct replacement! No modification need just plug them in and your good. There bigger bulbs than the stock 168 and so they are much brighter but like i said NO MODIFICATION needed and it fixes the hyper blink!

Amber 921s added...sweetness! Now oncoming vehicles can actually tell when my blinker is on.

Awesome guys thanks for the info - I am doing this mod this weekend -

What bulbs did you all actually use for the "fog" lights? Stock or something different?

For what its worth, my experience was different. I did this mod to turn my corner marker lights into turn signals. Swapped the green wires and of course had the hyper blink in the turn signals afterwards. Put in the 921NA bulbs, however, it did not slow down the hyper blink.

Yes, 921s are higher wattage, yes they are brighter than 168s or 194s. Unfortunately, on my truck I had to add the load balancer/resistors to slow the hyper blink to a normal speed.

It is not clear why this seems to work on some and not on mine.

update: put the bigger bulbs in and pretty much fixed the problem, they not only light up properly but also dont have the hyperblink!

by the looks of it i fried the smaller little bulbs in there... for future reference those doing this to an older truck like mine you should probably just invest in new bigger bulbs off the bat.

But wouldn't you still need to change out the socket to a dual filament socket so that the light would function as the blinker and parking lights.

If you haven't already done so, check out Beau02's excellent write-up. A materials/parts list is located on page 6.

FWIW, I used a pair of clear 4157 Siverstar bulbs as "fogs". (If anybody knows of brighter options, without requiring additional modification/rewiring, let me know...)

the 921s don't work on my rig either... what size load resistor did you use? and it just goes in-line to the (+) of the "new" blinkers ?? thanks

One end of the load resistor connect to the power wire, the other end connects to the ground wire. This adds resistance to the circuit and makes the ECU think a higher wattage bulb is being used and stops the hyperblink.

    It's been a while but IIRC, I used a 6 ohm resistor.
