BUYER BEWARE: 3rd Gen Tacoma Heads-Up Display (HUD)

How about this, I will measure where it is projecting on my windshield today and give you an idea

 

You would be absolutely surprised. I love it. I love having it to the left and tbh, it really isn’t off your line of sight that much. I mean, have you really taken a look in your cab while just sitting there. It’s not distracting to the eyes at all, especially at night. You never have to look down now. If you don’t want to, it is right at the level of sight and if you can’t just take a slight glance and back up then there is a huge issue. Our cabs are not that big first of all; and, personally, I would rather it be to the side than right down the middle. I think that is a personal preference on this one and it is definitely a touchy subject, but unfortunately there isn’t anything I can make in our dash unless I want to rebuild our whole dash and that just ain’t happening.

Individuals that are going to want the ones right in front in the middle will have to wait for the 2nd Gen Tacoma Option when I develop that one.

Sorry to be a pain - unfortunately PA is very restrictive on the stickers (3 of them: Annual Safety Inspection, Annual Emissions Inspection and Truck Class (for anything Class 2 or higher including potential towed weight - my Pro weights push it into class 2 so I have all 3 stickers).

 

No worries. I’m just glad my state doesn’t have those. That would drive me crazy. I hate when you get an oil change and they put those stickers at the top just to remind you of the next service. I remove that right away.

 

Could you use a small plexi type glass with 2 small suction type cups and when need new inspection stickers remove and the reapply? The police will only need to see the back to see the vin number, and inspection station number if needed.

Ok so I finally took a picture with a measuring tape for those that have to have a sticker in this area.



Also, for those that asked the question regarding the polarized sunglasses. I finally had the sun out today, so I put my sunglasses on just to check this out for those that were wondering if there was anything that changed. I do not recall the specific question and from who asked the question, but there is absolutely nothing that changes with what you see on the Heads Up Display. It is still clear as day.

I have been informed that everyone’s dash is the black but that it is only the grab handle that is the different interior color. If this is different and anyone knows of a model that this statement is not true, please tell me now.

Why can I see the non-illuinated portions (other than the speed) of the display in the window?

 

I think that is because the prototype trim is white and not color matched yet to the rest of the truck.
White and black is very contrasting, making it stick out like a sore thumb.
Once it is color matched, it should not be obvious that anything is there.
