Lift Spacer or Suspension Lift?

hey everyone brand new to this forum, i have a 2010 dbl cab long bed 4x4 bone stock right now. im looking to put a lift on my truck here next few weeks or so. my taco is my daily driver however i do travel to the mountains to snowboard and camp and head to the coast with dunes and all. what do you recommend? the 2.5 spacer or doing a 3" suspension lift with the UCA? ive heard good and bad about both. id like to do something like the Toytec Ultimate but i dont want to be sloppy driving down the road which i do 90% of the time. can anyone help?

 

With a 4x4 I would def go with a suspension lift. A spacer lift will put too much stress on your front CV's. I know they cost more, but remember, you get what you pay for.​

 

yeah thats what i was thinking...i was just wondering if doing a suspension lift make my truck an uncomfortable ride and all over the road

 

coil overs and AAL dont do spacers you'll regret it. and it's useless..rough ride ECT...its worth saving to do it right

haha its driving me crazy...i can spend the money and do the suspension way i just dont want to be all upset if its gonna ride crappy going down the road 90% of the time im driving it...

 

You know you can go camping, snow boarding, trail riding, congregate with a macramé group, etc. with a stock truck... And that costs close to nothing!!!

 

haha yeah but i dont like the look of how my front end sits down and i want to put some wheels and tires on it... thinking 17 wheel on about a 32 tire. i want it to be my own special taco not "just" another one on the road you know? an i enjoy off-roading when im not working...

 

A 3" lift sounds moderate but is turns out to be pretty extreme for these little trucks.

The most "bulletproof" option is Bilstein 5100s all the way around, set at 1.75 (NOT 2.5) in the front, with an Add-A-Leaf in back. That'll ride well, won't have any alignment or front CV angle issues, and let you clear your 32" tires (265/75R16 or 265/70R17.) It'll look aggressive (like a stock truck that's been hitting the weight room) and you might not even have to remove the front mudflaps.

 

I too am looking to lift my truck. Lucky for me my boss just gave me a brand new set of 285/75/16 off his hummer. I'm not one to turn down over $800 in free tires. I've been looking at doing the toytec ultimate lift kit which seems like the best option (except the price) Will I have any problems with these 33" tires???

 

In addition to the lift, you need aftermarket rims with 4.5" backspacing (or you will need to add spidertrax wheel spacers to your stockers), and you will also have to trim some plastic in the fender well and possibly chop the cab mount.

 

If you do get spacers eventually you'll get a supension lift. once you get more involved with TW and start going to meets.

 

Yeah i have decided not to go with spacers. You said that you have your bilsteins set at 1.75. would i need to do all that trimming if i set them higher?

 

I have my Billy's at 1.75, but I have 32" tires, not the 33"s you are looking at getting.

The trimming and all that I was talking about is with a 2.5" lift.
I bet you would have to do some major stuff to get those to fit at 1.75"

 

so it is best to just go with the suspension lift right off the bat instead of playing around with the spacers! ok so im looking to do the toytec ult sus lift with the total chaos ucas on a 32" tire. does that sound about right?

stay away from spacer lifts like mentioned above. my truck came with one when i bought and they are complete shit

 

ok now ive decided to go with a coilover kit... now to decide which one and everything i need to buy... any ideas? i found a kit at off road warehouse for front fox coilovers, Total chaos ucas, and fox rear shocks for 2200

 

I think you may be going a bit overboard for 32" tires, but up to you.
