He hit him from the side, shoulder to shoulder.. he didnt aim for the head, and if you look at the video when he curls into the corner he looks behind himself so he knew he would have pressure coming, just because the Buffalo guy went awakardly into the boards doesn't make it a cheap shot.

Now If it was in the numbers, or he aimed for the head, or gave an elbow or cross check that would be a cheap shot.

If the BUF guy had taken the hit into the boards properly he would have bounced up and been fine and there would have been no penalty.

Trying to Blame the Chicago guy for this would be like blaming olli jokinen for losing his balance after throwing a check that cut Zednicks throat.

I am sick and tired of them trying to make hockey like football.. why dont they just say no checking no fighting, we can get the super stars Yellow Jersey so players know they cant even be touched, just like they are tryign to do with QBs in the NFL

i did watch the video. and he hit him from the side.. shoulder to shoulder.. just because it was on the back of the should cap logo doesnt make it from behind. that is still the shoulder. and like I said, he didnt fall awakdwardly he wouldnt have hit his head, and he would have been fine. It was a dirty hit it was unlucky fall

 

I'm seeing the same thing as you. A hit from the side and he went in akwardy and hit his head. It was a blindside but at the NHL level guys are pretty good at protecting themselves. If he would have just gotten tight to the boards there is no issue.

 

You're a retard . Pause the video at 1:29 and tell me how it is shoulder to shoulder , when it is Hjalmarrsson's shoulder into the numbers . Better yet pause the video at 1:26 , Pommenville is looking only at the puck , Hjalmarrson already has him in the train tracks and will cover another 35 feet to hit him , from behind .

That is a blindsided , hit from behind . It doesn't matter if Pommenville looked up when he skated through the corner , and it doesn't matter if he saw Hjalmarrson coming , he was waiting for the puck to be played up the boards , and was hit from behind .

 

Obviously Pommenville must have forgot he was playing hockey, where when you play the puck along the boards you should exspect to get hit.. this is a contact sport its not Basketball or ping pong.

The part of the clip at 1:26 starts after he looked behind him. and I am tellin you that if I was the ref It would not have been boarding, that In my opinion it was from the side not from behind. I would have called Interferance for the early hit but that is it

and like I said all the uproar is because he hit his head on the glass akwardly, if he was better prepaired to get hit there wouldnt have been an issue at all.

Hjalmarrson then came another 35 feet to hit him from behind , before he had the puck . If Pommenville was not injured the refs would still have called it a hit from behind , and more than likely ejected Hjalmarrsson . Did you notice the refs arm go up immediately after the hit ? And the player's reactions ? It would seem that everyone on the ice felt that the hit was dirty , your opinion may differ .

 

but he will be back for the rematch on saturday....

The league is just trying to protect guys and change the mindset of the players so they have more respect for each other, which is something that has been lacking for a long time! Don't take hitting out of the game but I think guys need to have more respect, it doesn't take much to end a guys career!!
