You can change just the upper but if you are running big tires on a small really positive offset wheel you could still have some clearance issues. Getting a UCA with a uniball will give you the most clearance possible.

You aren't getting them any longer they are the same stock length. They change caster and are more compact at the ball joint area for clearance.

Why do you want to go longer?

Almost touching your strut when the wheels are on the ground or when you have the truck jacked up and the wheels are off the ground (full droop)?

The aftermarket UCAs give more space around the strut too. Just get some Camburgs, Total Choas, etc it'll be fine. You can't go longer without going longer lowers otherwise you jack the geometry all up.

Uniballs require more maintenance than a ball joint and they wear out quicker than a ball joint. Don't worry about keeping track of uniball maintenance because they'll squeak like hell when they need more grease.

4 inch lift with a drop bracket?

Or are you maxing out the stock suspension? Which would explain why the upper control arms are almost touching the coil at ride height.
