First time poster, long time lurker. I have recently been planning to upgrade the audio in my 2016 Limited. I was trying to plan it all out and could not find any specific information regarding the amplifier in our wonderful trucks.

I reached out to Harmon International (they own JBL apparently), and this is the response I got:

    Hi David,

We have looked into the model of the car amplifier that you have provided and unfortunately, since this was a pre-built unit, we don't have any information about the said amplifier. It is JBL however it was manufactured by a different company. You may want to contact its manufacturer or Toyota for more information about the amplifier.

A Toyota rep told me to contact JBL. So, does anyone here have the specs on it?

How did you find this out if you dont mind me asking? Sounds about right to me based on the systems output. The real kicker to me is when the amp goes into "limp mode" after being driven hard for more than 20mins on a hot day. One of the most infuriating things about this truck IMO. Also apparently removing it and retaining the stock headunit is impossible........... I could be wrong I am not an audio expert by any stretch, based on research I have done on this forum/discussing with audio installers.

I also bridged my own sub and put it in the factory sub box. Is louder and sounds a lot better. It forces the system to actually use the highs up front instead of muddy mids constantly. The Jbl system is suspect really. Not much you can do besides gut and replace.

Do you mind sharing how you went about that?

More importantly what items were used and how did they fit?
