Lets talk about switching out headlights. I have a 2018 TRD sport and want to put the new 2020 LED headlights in. Is it as simple as plug and play (like tacomabeast and morimoto)? Has anyone done it yet? When I look into the price on Toyota website to add this option to a 2020 its only $800. When i went into my local dealership they quoted me a price of $1,200 for EACH.... And he said he didn't think it would work, because LED housing is different than the halogen housing. But if the 2020 come with halogen and then they upgrade (which can be done) what is different about my 2018?

Just wanted to see if any have attempted it ? thanks

Xrunnerdude sells a converter harness and you can get the housings for around $1300 if you shop around online. There is a megathread about this already.

Did you do an extensive search on here? I know I have recently read at least one thread where this issue was discussed. I don't have time to find the link but you should be able to find it if you search with the correct words. My recollection is that it can be done but you need to add a new harness that allows plug and play with the new 2020 headlights.

Yep requires a harness. I would be apprehensive especially with aftermarket electrical stuff. Good excuse for Toyota to void your warranty down the road if gremlins show up.

I thought you had an older model Tacoma, perhaps 17-18? Did you recently bought the 2020?

I just searched for this Xrunnerdude and only see a bunch of posts made mentioning him/her. I can only find 1 Xrunnerdude variation of the name as a member and that person has no posts that I can see. Is there a link to this harness?

I swapped mine before the harness was available. Simply cutting and rewiring the connector to a 6 pin molex and boom, flashy new lights. It's not bad, all the info is in the thread you were linked to earlier.
