My dad has something like that in his tires. Only downside is that they freeze in really cold temps. But after a mile it breaks up

    Interesting, haven't had that problem

I had 2 tires dismounted on Friday and was sitting in the parking lot waiting. The manager came walking out and was like "what the hell are these?" and tossed a pinch of dirty BBs towards me. He was like "you must be a wheeler" :D

It's less Tacoma and more mod
None of your modules from the 4r will work with that taco computer. You could gut it and install the taco harnesses and computer and drive it like that without the VSC, ABS, 4WD computer, body control modules, etc. That's basically how I swapped my green truck to the grey truck to ditch the auto trans. Honestly if I were in your shoes, I'd look to defeat the auto trans portion of the computer and plop a manual in, you'll gain a lot of everyday driving power and have more control

No, it wouldn't pull or really do anything without a limited slip or a locker and a heavy right foot haha

correct, with an open diff and ADD disconnected it will act like 2wd; all the power would go to the disconnected ADD shaft

It's hard to imagine people fall for that kind of stuff but I guess they're really only indulging those that are already fans of Ford Explorers.

    Please don't enable people.

You're kind of like me, going out of the way from time to time to help people just cause....but some people just need to figure shit out.

Sink or swim like some of us were taught in life.

Prob like $40 each way. IIRC He makes $25 an hour and gets help for rent/insurance from his parents so I don't feel bad about his out of pocket costs on that...
