...^^^... Doing your "Solo" I think is the high point in a flying career ... first time that you really make your own life & death decisions in an aircraft.

I was very young when I did my Solo and I remember that I pretended the IP was with me all through that flight.

I also remembering talking to myself to double check things. :)

If you can get through your Solo ... the rest is a piece of cake (just don't ever take anything for granted ... I still double check everything).

    Congrats ...

    ...^^^... Good pre-flight catch ...

I wonder if that is a manufacturing defect or a cold weather problem ... or both ?

Weather plus wear. It's not common to find but it's common enough that people won't freak out.

It was supposed to be 45 minutes from Lubbock to Dallas....1.5 hours later and we had to divert due to minimum fuel. What a day.

I was thankful to be solo because my IP loved to stress people out with "in flight emergencies". His go to was to pop the passenger door open during takeoff and make you prioritize and problem solve. Turns out a 172 can in fact fly with a door cracked and it wont fall out of the sky while you make your departure.

You probably already know this but be cautious landing in ruts like that with a crosswind.

Noooooo! Not the parapanties! I trained in it last summer and, aside from the gear being conveniently small and light compared to my 16ft 55lb glider, theres something about praying your aircraft stays inflated the whole time that put me off.
