    Hi All.
Not sure if this is the sub to be posting this or if I can even ask this here...
I finally tracked down a tacoma within the specs I wanted. https://www.bochtoyota.com/inventor...d-v6-m-4wd-crew-cab-pickup-5tfcz5an1lx227025/
Thing is I haven't bought a car in about 10years or so now.
What kind of offers should I be asking these dealers? 4% 5% 10% off?
Ill be putting some money down on it and the rest financing. Ill even finance with the dealer if it brings my total out the door price lower.

Nice choice! I think the price is not bad at all, it looks like it has the premium and tech package. I talked them down $3500 from msrp, which was quite a bit. I did go to about 5 different dealers to see who gave me the best price though. Dont expect much off that price.

    Good luck!

Cool. So around 3000 is the sweet spot!. Also Last question. I do like the new LED lights that toyota has. Is it a pain to put in after I buy the truck or is it one of those things if I ask for it they can install at the dealer?

My buddy got 2019 OR AT taco and they only gave him $1900 off msrp and they wouldnt budge, so i would say $3000 is good yes. I guess they gave me a bit bigger discount, because mine was MT.

Sorry, Im not sure about LED lights, im sure someone will chime in.

Looks like the one in the ad is already almost $3k below MSRP so you may not have much wiggle room. You could have them throw in some accessories like the rubber bed mat, rubber floor mats, running boards or mud flaps, depending on what you were planning to buy after purchase.

Even if they dont budge on the price or added accessories, see if they will sell you said accessories at cost. They may do that to get the sale.

Are you doing a trade in? There are typically 3 areas for them to make money: trade in exchange, financing and sale price. Be careful to manage all three. Many people get great deals on sticker price only to get fleeced on trade in and financing.

before you even step foot in the dealership make sure you hit up multiple dealers in a 100+ radius to get multiple "Quotes."
From there use comparable trucks to work down their price. -- Hey this dealer is selling this similar tacoma for XXXXX$ what is the best price you can offer?
At that point hopefully you can narrow down your selection to 2-3 dealers.
Thats when you can pit them with each other to see who can offer you the best price, package, financing etc.
For this to work you need to be prepared to walk away and even better if you're not picky on the color of the taco.

good luck. Always go into that meeting with multiple other "comparable" cars on your phone or saved to negotiate with.
I'd be pretty straight forward too to your point. "Hey i know you get a financial kick back for financing with you - what can you offer me if i chose to finance with you as opposed to what i've been preapproved with my bank."

Don't wait for them to offer something, just call it out

Thanks Guys! From my little knowledge of car shopping, I do know not to tell about the trade in last. haha.
Over here they tend to be smarter about comparing dealers and pricing. I have about 12 dealers to choose from.
This truck seems to be great on pricing so Ill work them over with this build. Ill update once I get my truck!!! Then mods!
Oh and thanks for telling me it has the LED!

My dads friend used to sell cars and trucks for a living. He says dealers typically make 10% on each new truck (Tacoma) sold

We here on Oahu have 1 dealer to choose from. Most of the time its pay what they want, but sometimes a deal can be had.

Off topic, but some of the pics in that link show an "OH SH!T" hand hold on the left A Pillar. Optical illusion no doubt.

If you have a Costco membership, or know someone who does, see if any dealerships participate in your area. They immediately get you really close to invoice and then you can blast that sheet out to some other local dealers to see if they will beat it.

If you don't have a Costco membership, look at the MSRP and take off 15% and start your negotiations there.

Generally people have been getting 10-13% off MSRP on 2020s.

I’ve sold Toyota’s for almost 18 years and your Dad’s friend is misinformed. Tacoma’s have anywhere from $1,200 markup to $2,500. This doesn’t include holdback or finance reserve which is another $800 to $1,400. If every body paid MSRP he’d be correct but but where I’m located customers are a little better educated.

So I ended up with a 2020 TRD offroad listed at 43,071.00 https://www.expresswaytoyota.com/in...ff-road-4wd-crew-cab-pickup-5tfcz5an5lx219221
Without trade I got them down to 40000 and change out the door. With my trade out the door at 3601.88.
My state title tax and fee is close to 3000.00
I was going for a 2020 TRD PRO Manual but they wouldn't budge on that. So then I saw a 2019 TRD PRO auto out the door priced at 44K.
At the end I got my color/package and manual!
I think I did pretty good!!!
    Picking up tomorrow

Congrats on the new truck, sounds like you got a good deal with your trade in plus $600, what are you trading in on it?
