I've been noticing a strange issue with my stuck stereo system in my 2020 SR SX. It doesn't seem to matter what audio source I choose, but it will randomly drop all sound for about a second or less then it comes right back. Sometimes it makes an electronic click noise as if the speakers are losing electricity. It's starting to get really annoying! Has anyone else had this issue or ideas for what to check? Thanks in advance!

I appreciate your reply. His issue seems different than mine. I've never heard that sound before. Mine just cuts out at random times but comes right back on immediately or a second later. Almost as if losing connection to Bluetooth or something but it happens on multiple sources. Might be taking it to the dealer this weekend to see if they can figure it out. The problem is, it may go 30 minutes or more without the issue.

I would suggest recording a video with your phone and taking that to your dealership. Also, if it happens when only via Bluetooth, it may be your phone. If it happens when you're on FM/AM, then it most definitely sounds like a headunit or audio amplifier issue. Either way, the warranty should cover it (as long as you haven't done any mods that a tech can attribute the issue to). Good luck and try your best to update this thread when you figure out what the problem is! Good luck

Thank you for the suggestion! The one concern I have is that I did replace the stock speakers but the problem existed before that. But that might get me in warranty trouble. Guess there is only one way to find out... Thanks again!

I've noticed a very occasional ~1 sec drop out of signal when listening to a local HD radio station. Other than that, I haven't seen any problems... well, except for bugs when trying to browse music on a USB stick. It's feels like they didn't test it much, if at all. I have the 8" "Premium Audio" head unit, though, which may be different from yours.

I’ll take my chance and give my thoughts on it.
If I remember correctly, I noticed the same on my 2020, but also when listening to my iPhone straight.
Wouldn’t it be because you are receiving a message or a popup on your cell phone connected to the Bluetooth?
    Just a thought... good luck!

Originally I thought it was related to my phone, but it also does it when listening to USB audio and Sirius XM, although it doesn't happen nearly as much with Sirius XM. I haven't made it to the dealer yet.

Hey, did you ever figure this out? I’m having the exact same issue. I always listen to music through my phone (pixel 4) and have it plugged into the truck through a usb-c cord so the phone can mirror on the truck display.

No, I never did and I haven't been driving much since mid March either so I haven't noticed it much.

I've been having the same problem with my 2020. I had the phone music cut out at least 6 times during a 20 minute drive yesterday I was connected to Android Auto, which I usually am when I'm in my truck. For some reason I thought this was a common issue and was ignoring it. I'll look into it a little more and follow this thread. Good luck.

Ok so I had a similar problem with my Murano, Android Auto kept switching off. After dealing with it for a couple of years I took it to Nissan and they told me to turn off Bluetooth while using Android Auto. I think that did the trick I bought the Tacoma around the time I took the Murano to the dealer so I've been driving the Tacoma.

I tried that today... Shut off Bluetooth and connected Android Auto. It didn't skip for my 15 minute drive. That might be a solution. Turn off Android Auto on the Head Unit see if that helps. I've only driven it for a short while so I'm not definite but it's worth a shot.

Thanks I’m still trying to see if that fixed it. Haven’t driven much, also I want to try the 2 applications to see if that affects my truck.
