What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

I did my wipers just a few weeks back,

Perhaps I am obsessive about this stuff but I slapped on OEM Toyota wipers.. You can tell they work below!



And I get to stare at them from the cab as well..


Can you spot the non oem part that is on its way out soon?!!

I use the RainX water repellent and wipers.

 

How long do the wipers typically last? I know place and weather change it everywhere.

 

Mine last a couple years at most. The ice on the windshield is what ruins mine so fast. I usually have a cover for snow and ice but sometimes on the weekends I forget to use it.

 

I use rainx windshield treatment, but just get the cheap Michelin wipers from Costco once a year when they have that rebate. It's like 7 bucks total for the two wipers.

 

Unless you have a front locker and wheel hard. Then fuckkk those axles.

Oh and I replaced my ac idler pulley the other day. I thought this noise was the fan clutch bracket but turns out it was just a $30 pulley.

I forget I have a Costco card all the time and miss all the deals or just forget to go. Overactive brain and stuff.

 

Do you have a oem radio? Do you need one? And what's the word on the t4r??

 

Was the pulley bad or was it just the bearing? You can swap those out in 10 minutes for about $6.

 

The bearing but I saved the old one to do that. Though the one I had I am not sure how it is servicable.

It looks like the one that came off the truck is not the original, no snap ring.

 

Hmm, maybe it’s a press fit? I don’t think I’ve seen one of those before.

 

Excuse the commentary but this shows both bearings, both seemed press fit and the newest one almost looked liked there was some sort of epoxy glue on it too.

New one was a Dayco brand.

 

It's a press fit, and they're not that hard to swap out. I warmed the pulley up on the top of my wood stove, and put the bearing in the freezer. Dropped right in.

 

That's what I do for all and any press fit bearings and bearing races, the freezer part
