The PL is loosening up? How about putting an o-ring behind the barrel? Long shot but maybe.

I sometimes will adapt SMA connectors to BNC just for commonality and to be less prone to breaking. This Diamond adapter fit well on the older Yaesu HTs we have. I don't usually bother with aftermarket antennas much anymore, though.

I you have a Chinese radio be sure you order an adapter for them there are two different pin setups one is male the other is female (centerpin). If you buy a cable adapter for mobile use buy the one that has the thicker coax they are far more rugged, the small thin ones have a tendency to pull the coax out of the connector. They do make sma adapters, if you are using it mobile I still suggest getting the cable type adapter (SO 239) it's a lot easier radio itself.

No. The sma fitting into the cable eventually spins loose. I've used them for a couple years now, gone through about 6, and have bought a variety of reputable ones.

They just sit in a cup holder. Not as if there's any real way to use and abuse them in their given situation.

Maybe I should just go with a longer Jumper to put the weight of the So-239 barrel on the floor. Normally I prop it somewhere around the center cubby to relief strain.

ive had better luck with SMA to BNC with the oring on the SMA side, then to a BNC 18" pigtail to SO239. But the Feng/Sheng radios never had ears with a external antenna.
Ive been most impressed with this HT antenna. https://signalstuff.com/product/super-elastic-signal-stick/
OEM and others just never had ears. But there is another but its ungodly HUGE... ABBREE antenna
Ham Radio Crash Course on TY has done vids on mentioned antenas

I ordered the BTECH PC03 FTDI cable. It came yesterday and works perfectly. Got my radio all programed.

Also ordered the NA-701. It comes today.

Taking my test Saturday. Feeling pretty good about passing. Won't be long till I am on the air now.

Yaesu has a hard on for offering these nice mobile rigs and then locking the features.

Aka the ftm400. Fantastic radio. Thing is dope. Then they don't include a hookup for an external tnc. Talking about falling flat on your face.

Zero reason for that as well. Would have ended the d710 in two seconds.

Was discussing this on reddit yesterday. this will have the stupid dual speaker ports that Kenwood likes so much. I guess they are trying to get you to buy more accessories. I loved how they handled two channels' audio coming out of one speaker, until now. It also looks exactly like any AnyTone radio. This will be a hard pass for me.

Why not spend the time on a modern day 857D or something like it?

    Regards to FTM-300DR - https://www.universal-radio.com/catalog/fm_txvrs/4300.html

The Yaesu FTM-300DR dual band mobile transceiver provides stable and reliable 50 W RF power output. It is equipped with a heavy-duty heat sink that includes our exclusive FACC (Funnel Air-Convection Conductor Wind Tunnel). Real Dual Band Operation (V+V, U+U, V+U, U+V) is available with two independent receivers, and the FTM-300DR supports simultaneous C4FM digital monitoring for both the A and B bands. The 2-inch high-resolution QVGA TFT color display highlights the frequency and operation bands. With the Band Scope Function, users can monitor up to 63 channels centered around the current VFO frequency in real time. (21 channels in memory channel mode).

Memory Channel Band Auto Grouping (MBAG) allows channels to automatically categorized in each band, and memory channels can be easily and quickly recalled by four Band Groups:
    Airband [M-AIR], VHF [M-VHF], UHF [M-UHF] and 174-400/480-999 MHz [M-GEN].

A 3 watt audio amplifier provides clear and crisp audio and two external speaker jacks are provided. Users can output the VFO A and B band Receiver to separate speakers or mix A and B signals when a single external speaker is used.

The built-in Bluetooth unit enables the hands-free operation with the optional Yaesu SSM-BT10 or a commercially available product. The SSM-BT10 is equipped with a PTT button and also supports VOX operation. Using the new USB charger cable SCU-41 with the controller of the FTM-300DR, the SSM-BT10 can be easily charged. The SSM-BT10 works for approximately 20 hours on single charge.

The FTM-300DR supports both the WiRES-X Portable Digital Node function and Fixed Node function with the HRI-200. Since simultaneous C4FM monitoring on both VFO A and VFO B is possible, users can enjoy both WiRES-X communications on one channel while monitoring another local channel at the same time.

Other advanced features of the new FTM-300DR include: DG-ID (Digital ID), Group Monitor, positional awareness from the built-in 66ch High Sensitivity GPS receiver enabling Real Time Navigation, Backtrack feature, a GPS Terminal for an external GPS receiver, 1200/9600 ARRS data modem for ARRS mode, Voice Recording of both Received and Transmitted audio, save and load data including configuration and memory channel information to a micro SD card, Snapshot function using the optional MH-85A11U camera microphone.

This radio includes: SSM-85D DTMF hand microphone, radio mounting bracket, control cable for attached head and one for remoting head, USB cable, DC power cord and manual.

[IMG]NOTE [02/25/20]: We will provide pricing information in the next day or two and start taking orders. This model is expected April 2020.

I was wondering too. I was assuming typo or maybe a Japanese->English character translation mistake and it's supposed to be APRS.

The 4 knobs is pretty typically Yaesu. Looks like a shrunk down FTM-400 that's been cross bred with an FTM-100, so like you'd expect. The closest Anytone I suppose is an AT-D578, which does not have a face that separates, lacks the SD card and a 9600 baud modem, the mic plugs into the face not the body and is DMR not Fusion. I think this is substantially a Yaesu designed radio, there's a lot of differences. If the buttons (and the FTM-300 has 10 buttons while the AT-D578 has eight) didn't surround the display (which is centered on the Yaesu and off center in the Anytone) in a similar way it wouldn't look that close at all.
