Since I have owned my 2001 Tacoma SR-5 I have never seen my fuel warning lamp indicator illuminate and have driven it seveal times with the fuel level gauge pointing to "E" . I believe the fuel warning light should illuminate when the key is turned to the ACC position and the instrument cluster goes through a "Bulb Check". At least the other indicator bulbs ( Rear Diff, Air Bag, Check Engine, Seat belt ) in the instrument gauge cluster illuminate when the key is in the Acc position.

Can someone with a 2001 to 2004 Taco do this simple check/test and let me know whether your fuel indicator warning lamp illuminates in either the ACC position or when starting their Taco?

    TIA

Heading in front right now to check on my 2001......

.....Nope. The right most indicator which looks like a gas pump does NOT light up with the key in and off, in the ACC position, or even in the next spot. Once the truck is starting, the light in that indicator still does NOT come on. Only my airbag indicator comes on in ACC; the other indicators cycle in the next spot pre-ignition.

Moving Chicane thanks for checking that out and verifying the lamp operation. I would thought that fuel warning lamp was part of the Bulb Check so I guess mine is working as designed.

Any comments one where the Fuel Level warning lamp comes on in realtion to fuel level indicator?
