They used to fly into Ft Irwin when I worked there kicked so much dirt up. :smash:But I chose to work at a dry lake bed in the desert.:duh:

    Stuff and such

In the desert their prop wash would blow their exhaust at our birds in such a way that it would cut off the AC in the plane, over heat, and crash all our systems. I’ve always hated them...

my wife asked me last night when we were going to start flying when it’s cloudy. I’m perfectly happy limiting myself to VFR or driving. She gets annoyed when I say we can’t go, but I’m pretty conservative with a hobby. I do like to see where I’m going.

Keep in mind I was coupled 90% of the time. Managing through a flight director. But I was single pilot with a student. For what it’s worth I’ll take clear skies anytime.

Is there a nickname for aviation fans? I know they call rail fans "foamers".

I got kinda hooked on an aviation Youtube channel after the Kobe crash - the Blancolirio channel. This morning Juan Brown the guy who runs that channel was streaming a live broadcast - of him watching on his television, some channel called Big Jet TV and they were watching commentary and live feed of landings and takeoffs at Heathrow.

I had no idea people did this. I kinda got hooked admittedly. I didn't know you could do such a thing. Heh.

Well, dads plan of buying a KitFox kit and assembling it post retirement has been changed, he wants to sell his Cessna 182 and buy a used kit plane now and then build another post retirement.
He's going to help me get my license next year so we can fly.

    Just the basics
Last summer I was camped on a mountain saddle in Owens Valley and had a single MV-22 fly up from the south to cross right above my camp. What made this event even better was that it was at night. I was in the Corps long before these even came on line to replace the Phrogs. I only knew it was an Osprey after it passed over the camp and saw the rotor tips lit up green. Very cool experience.
