Have you guys seen this article?

All Toyota has ever had to do is publish specification like fording depth, maximum incline, etc. There's always a limit to how steep a car engine can run and have its oil drain back to the pan. It's not like we can expect a race track prepared engine or one that can run inverted in a stunt aircraft. It would just be nice to know Toyota made adjustments for typical off highway use to an engine originally designed for Camrys and Siennas that wouldn't see anything more than a steep driveway.

 

I remove my oil before going up steep stuff as a precaution.

I've been stuck in a mud hole and it took a little while before water started coming into the cab.

The 22R in my old truck had an oil self leveling feature, little half-moon seals on either end of the head that would let excess pooled oil drain out. As a bonus the drained oil would rust proof the engine block.

 

Exactly. Ita really only a problem if you sit at that angle for a few mins.

 

True but they arnt required to do that. Wish they would of thought about making a better system but oh well.

I'm not buying my next vehicle until I can afford to pay cash, or Toyota offers 0% financing! My current Tacoma was a gift from my parents when I got my learner's permit, and my dad was able to get a loan from Citadel at 0.9% APR! This was back in September 2009!

You missed the 0% financing on 2019s. They might still be offering it but I doubt there's any stock left. I got mine in December but there were very few left.

The guy wants specific numbers for fording depth, ascent angle etc...? Why, so he can get out with a measuring tape and protractor to make sure the truck can safely handle the obstacle?

This guy needs to learn how to drive and adopt some realistic expectations for a vehicle. Like OP said, they guy is blaming everyone except himself.

 

There was a time when Toyota installed gauges so you'd know stuff like that.

Toyotas back in the 80s were pretty funky. Actually, everything back then was. I miss it.
