Nice! We've got almost the same set up, except we opted for the Hybrid XSE to help offset the mpg of the Taco

I wonder if integrating this switch would bypass the auto shut off when you open the door with the remote start?

Hmmm.... I don't have any experience with remote start kits, so I don't know exactly how that would work, or if it would mess with it or not. Simply speaking, if the door opening kills the engine with that kit, then this bypass would probably prevent that from happening, because it's just keeping the circuit open. (When the door-switch circuit is "open" the truck registers that the door is closed. When the door is opened, the switch closes the circuit, and that tells the truck the door has been opened.) In second gens (at least my 2008) the circuit worked the opposite way.

As I said, I don't know anything about remote start kits, and how it works with the key not being in the vehicle, etc. I guess if your remote starter works with you inside the vehicle, and then you can put it in drive and operate the vehicle (I'm assuming the key would be in it at this point) then I would say it would work. Someone who has experience with how the remote start works can probably chime in there with some info.

I just tried to remote start my truck while sitting inside the truck, the second that I put my foot on the brake the engine shut off. When I tried to open the door the alarm went off. Now all my neighbors think I'm stealing my truck! So the short answer is no, you can't bypass the switch. The brake pedal is the second trigger.

I have a push button start on my 2017 TRD OR. Thanks to your switch install I think I will do some investigating.

I knew someone here would do some investigating! I would be ok with it shutting off when I press the brake as long as I could open the drivers door, load all my crap for work in the truck and clear the snow and ice off before getting in. Thx for testing that theory.

I think the bypass thread said there are like three things that all play into the shut off. All three must be bypassed.

    @RyanDCLB beat me to it.

I'm just sharing. I'm not trying to change your mind. I can only wonder at your thoughts about my oil change intervals of 36,000 miles. But almost 300,000 miles later, not one mechanical problem, and clean lab reports are all the proof I need.
A side bonus is that I'm not polluting the environment with waste oil, dirty filters, & empty bottles every 5k either.

Interestingly, that in the days of piston engine aircraft, the U.S. Army & Air Force had more engine failures right after an oil change than at any other time. So much so that they just flat quit changing the oil. More to the story of course - but you'll have to look that up in your free time if you're interested. Then jets & synthetic oil came along and it was all a moot point for them. Still interesting (to the mechanically minded types...)

That's a good application, sometimes its the little things like that, that can make a difference. I'm in Florida, so I'd love to be able to remote-start the truck with the AC blasting when it's 100 degrees out and just be able to get in for a second and cool down for a second, or load some stuff in without the truck shutting off. Remote starter is on my wish list.

I suppose if I got one of those MESO overhead button bars with four button positions, I would wire one door to each one, depending on which doors I thought I was going to need to open, but I'm just not that committed.

It's all good. Never hurts to listen to someone else's point of view. Not at all suggesting that I am right or that anyone else is wrong. 5k is just where I feel comfortable. An added benefit for me is that it also gets me under my truck more often than I would normally do and prompts me to take a good look around.

Edit: Funny, looking back before synthetic I was changing my oil every 3-3.5k while many others were doing theirs at 5k and was having this same conversation with some of my friends back then.
I guess history does repeat itself.

Decided to put in Meso headlight plates on a slushy day. Slight pain but got it done and only broke one fender flair replaceable clip in the process. However one of the clip tab things is a little rough looking but it's still there and works.IMG_20200226_134823~2.jpg

Not at all familiar with the headlight plates. Are they clear protective covers that go over the existing lense's or something other than that.
Difficult to tell using my android.

Replaces the plate just below the headlight.
