we try not to talk about wheeling in those areas publicly to organize a group of trucks to go out is illegal without a permit in the state forest area and trhe PPA love to use truck pics from this thread in their propaganda to get the trails shut down

This. If you think that it’s worth your time to do anything in 4x4 related in new jersey you need a new hobby. Unless @cynicalrider is talking about how everyone only hangs out at coffee shops and auto parts store and doesn’t actually go wheeling anymore. In that case stick to “content creating” and don’t pretend to go wheeling

Anything that can be considered “fun” in New Jersey usually looks like this after a while

The population in this state is borderline retarded too. Look at groups like those fucknut woodhounds guys fucking shit up north? Look at all the facebook groups posting spots that used to be secret for all to see. That NE4x4 page is at 4.6k fucking members, like cops have to be on it. Instaglam as a platform is absolutely terrible. Everything sucks in this state.

yea Ive been seeing that on fb too, idk how these people don't realize they're fucking it up for everyone, or maybe they do and just don't give a shit. I think this hobby just sorta exploded in recent years so anyone with a truck wants to be apart of something but doesn't realize its not welcome in jersey :notsure:

Some of it is stupidity, some of it it’s trying to make NJ something that it is not, which can also fall into the stupidity category. NJ is great if you’re looking to go to the gym, go tanning, and do laundry all while living in a beach town. Possibly get into a fight at the club or fight through ridiculous crowds on a boardwalk. Three things that can’t be done in NJ properly are “overlanding”, wheeling, and buying “overland” accessories at a chain auto parts store.

You nailed this on the fucking head. This whole everyone wants to be an overlander/offroader mentality is what has really fucked it up for me. Slap on a set of max trax/rotopax/ and RTT and everyone is like i aM So oVeRLaNd. How many of these people go beyond smashing puddles in the pines? Or the greens at Rausch? Just because your build is capable of doing something and you aren't actually out there doing it, does not mean you are part of the group. And if you are doing this to be social and be part of a group, you are in it for the wrong reasons. I find it's people like that (most of the time) who's rig's are normally not up to snuff, don't plan trips, or have no interest in going wheeling/camping unless everyone else is. Fuck that.

I blame everything on Facebook/Social Media. Everything that those sites touch gets ruined.

I'll admit, I'm not into offroading. But I am enjoying my truck and being able to move stuff around with it. To top it off, there aren't many choices in trucks with manual transmissions.

I do love driving spiritedly in snow, gravel, sand, etc. But the Taco isn't the best for that.
