If I was worried about MPG I'd have a Prius I'm sold on the Yotas, my husband's 2003 Tundra SR5 has 300K+ miles on it and never had an issue. That includes annual towing around max rating a couple thousand miles for trips and yanking the tractor around to jobs/properties.

My 79 Scout II is seeing 10-12mpg downhill with a tailwind on a good day anyways, I'm used to gallons per mile. The Tundra will be offset with me not having a truck payment so.. it all balances out anyways. (Sexy dump trailer BTW, that's next on the list o' crap I need)

 

I don't feel so bad with 16 out of my 1st gen now, it's got 196K miles on it too.

 

My husband's 03 SR5 Tundra averages 13mpg. They're thirsty ol girls

 

I use the Tacoma for the little trailer and the duramax for the big one. I put 2,500 miles on the duramax last year and 10k on the Tacoma. The big trailer has the tractor with loaded rear tires, 2 sets of wheel weights on both sides, 100 gallons of water in the sprayer and 275 gallons on the tank on front

 

Yeah, it's a rental. It's on my list of 'to-buy' as well, but the size/capacity I'd be getting is like $7500.
$90 for the day from Maine Equipment Rentals in Manchester worked better for that project list

 

My Tundra averages 14.5 around town. 10 when towing. 18 on the highway.

 

12 around town, 15 on the highway. Towing depends on what I'm towing; with 6 yards of compost in that 4k lb dump trailer I still got like 12 on the highway. But with 12k of gravel in the same trailer, on back roads with hills... 8

 

Not a bad deal! I was renting a Kubota every other weekend and paying their bills and was like 'that's 6 months worth of payments if I had just bought my own' so I went and bought one instead.
They dont give those trailers away, the one i'm eyeing is $5,500.

 

Probably like a 10 foot, 10K? Or maybe a 7K? Those are nice if you're hauling them with a 1/2 ton
I'd be getting a 14 foot, 14k unit. Both for overall capacity, and because it'd be long enough to haul whatever tractor I've got to move.

 

Shooo...my towing mpg was an average too. Get 8-9 with my boat. Get 10-12 with a single axle enclosed trailer.

 

Got a BigTex 14PI-18' around 3k# (allegedly) for the Kubota.
The dump trailers yeah, just looking at a petite little fella for dumping a load of firewood in front of the porch to bring in because the loader on the tractor takes a million trips. I'm lazy like that.

I’m really enjoying this thread seeing what you guys have. The pictures are bringing back reminders of all the tractors that have come and gone that my grandfather and father have had through the years. I love it.

I just have one and it’s a sentimental one I inherited from my Grandpa, a Ford 2600 that he bought new.

 

I've considered an equipment or car hauler trailer, because they're certainly cheaper, but then I'll end up buying a dump trailer down the road anyway. Figure I might as well just wait and get one that does it all

This new radiator had a straight pipe for the drain and it hit the hood. I removed it and put the original elbow in. I didn’t know it hit the hood until I installed the hood. Just had to find time to fix it.

 

My 1964 MF35 Utility moving the newly acquired JLG LJ500 mini stand-on skidsteer. MF= 30hp (some say 35, who really knows- it's old and leaks a lot haha) and the LJ500 is a 12hp (I think?) Wisconsin Robinson which currently doesn't run. Leaks fuel out of the bowl like a sieve. I'll fix that, flush the line, see if it fires up. If not, I'll rebuild the carb.

The Massey I purchased in October 2015 in non-running condition. Wiring was shot, 3pt hitch didn't work, hydraulic oil in the trans case had a bunch of water in it. Ended up rebuilding the hydraulic pump (internal) flushing the loader hydraulics which are driven by a 12gpm front pump, other basic maintenance. I've got less than $2000 in it. Later picked up a free 6' heavy duty brush hog and a $300 6' flail mower which I love. It'll take a field that's 6' tall and make it look almost like a freshly mowed lawn. I've also got a 6' McKee Sno-lander snowblower for it, but winters have been mild since getting that so it hasn't been used. I usually bucket mount a snow plow, but have since switched to plowing with a pickup.

Edit: The MF is mainly used for purposes like this, moving heavy junk around, mowing my small field (about 2.5 acres, total property size is 4.5), moving stone around, grading the driveway, putting heavy junk in the truck or on a trailer. The LJ500 shown below is supposedly around 2000lbs. My tilt cylinder needs to be rebuilt so I had to depend on the lift arms to take the load. Pressure relief valve could use adjustment, too, as it squealed a bit and 2klbs is below max capacity for this unit.

One day, I'll split it and fix the rear main (rope) seal leak.

 

You might check into that rear seal problem. On the 600, 800 and 900 series Ford tractors you can drop the oil pan and reach up in there and change the rope seal. They also make a 2 piece regular seal now for the replacement.

 

Those are the split seal housings, right? Just bolt onto either side of the crank, top & bottom?

 

Yes, I don’t know if Massey had the same setup or not. I replaced the one in my 961, took longer to drain the oil and pull the pan than changing the seal.

Edit: Sometimes those rope seals will seal back up after the tractor is used more often and the rope gets soaked up. My tractor sat for 11 years and I gave it 6 months to soak back up and it did somewhat. I needed to change the pan gasket anyway so I changed the seal while I was at it.
